**WARNING!! CONTAINS Spoilers** National Treasure 2 was supposed to be this big blockbuster that everyone just *had* to see. Unfortunately, I fell into that trap and paid my 9 dollars to go and see it, shortly after it was released. I must say that I was extremely disappointed. This movie was half as good as the first National Treasure, and was borderline annoying.
I was very frustrated with two key points of the movie. One, it was VERY corny. They tried too hard to shove the Riley character down our throats. Too many times you heard the few chuckles throughout the theatre as Riley cracked another lame joke. The scene with the eagle while they were at Mt. Rushmore was ridiculous. Riley is a cool character, and he is definitely needed in the film, but it was very obvious that the directors were aiming at a younger, and immature audience.
Secondly, I was upset about how terribly unrealistic it was. Now, before I go any further, I do admit that I know that these types of movies are always going to have things in them that make you wonder about how realistic it is. I mean, the whole point of the movie series is finding huge treasures, by following clues left behind from historical figures, and family members in the past! There has to be some parts that are a big stretch. I get that. However, some movies can overdo it, and this one certainly did.
Searching for a City of Gold that is hidden in Mt. Rushmore?? Come on! That was a pretty ridiculous idea. However, what's worse is how they found the treasure. Having to break into Buckingham Palace, and the Oval Office, with no problems? Sure, that happens everyday! I mean, seriously, how silly is it that three people could just walk into two of the most heavily guarded places in the world, and steal clues that they needed? *sigh* Very frustrating. I also think that they made Riley's abilities with electronics way too strong. He hacked into every possible network that Ben Gates needed, including getting Ben and Abigail out of jail, within minutes.
OK, enough about how terribly unrealistic the movie was. I could go on and on. The fact of the matter is that this movie is OK if you just want to go out and have a nice night, or watch a nice adventure movie with the kids. However, NT2 is much worse than the first flick in the series. I would give it a 5 out of 10, only because the action is good, and there were some cool historical parts. If you are expecting to be blown away, go see another movie.
Just Friends (2005)
I wouldn't bother.....
I was flipping through some movie channels late one night, just looking for a decent movie to watch before I fell asleep. Well, I stumbled across this one, and before I even knew it, I had been watching for 45 minutes. The reason I started watching it was because I, too, had gone through a similar situation, where I was crazy about a girl in school, was considered a "friend", etc etc etc. I kind of "felt" for the character, Chris, during the first part of the movie. Well, I am still wondering why I let myself watch this whole movie. It was extremely predictable, it was poorly written, very unrealistic, and just plain bad. Without ruining the scenes, or giving away too much, you'll just have to take my word for it. After an hour of watching, I wanted to go to bed, but was actually laughing at how *rediculous* it was. The scenes which involved Chris going to see Jamie were just pathetic. The way people acted in certain scenes is *not* how people act in real life. Too many times I found myself scoffing, saying, "what the heck! People do *not* do that". "Accidents" that happened in the movie were blown way out of proportion, and "dumb" characters were really overused. It's just a big waste. I am actually mad at myself for losing two hours of my life, and two hours of sleep, on this piece of trash. This movie is not for intelligent people. It is for dumb teenagers with nothing else to do. I now feel ashamed to admit that I was one of the idiots that watched it.
