Good old school action
This movie reminded the old action flick, the one with Schwarzenegger, Stallone or Van Damme in it(well, especially, Schwarzenegger's "Commando"). The daughter of retired spy gets abducted. Bad guys just laughs, when the father swears a revenge on them and then... all hell breaks loose.
Great action scenes, sharp dialogs and, as usual, superb performance from Liam Neeson, makes "Taken" a solid and wild action movie. So, what else do you need to brighten the boring evening? :)

The Woodsman (2004)
Slow, sad, realistic and very good
"The Woodsman" is the movie about a guy, that were punished by the government, but he still has to suffer the judgment from almost every people around him. I guess it is the best movie of Kevin Bacon. His performance is very realistic, touching and unusual. You can see the drama inside the man and he doesn't have to talk. The great performance creates very tense atmosphere in the movie, and this is a big achievement, because the story are simple and without any big twists. A slow, consistent story also makes the film look real. Good music adds some more great sadness around the main character, and then you have a movie with great sound, great atmosphere and superb acting. It's enough to sit back and enjoy "The Woodsman".

Eight Below (2006)
Great story, bad realization
What is the typical model of most American movies? We have one important adventure, some apathetic people, some heroes, that can do anything to make things right and absolutely, we have two people, man and the woman :), that works together and in the end of the movie they becomes a couple. I think, that kind of films sucks. It is so stupid, trite and annoying, that lot of people can't stand any movies with such content.
"Eight Below" has this problem, but also it has a very sad, interesting and odd story. The group of dogs are left in south pole alone and they have survive very severe winter. The dogs are cute, and you can start to feel the sympathy for them. When I heard about this movie first time, i thought, that dogs will speak, sing and ruin all movie, but thank's God they are silent:). I loved the way, the dogs were showed here. Sometimes they act like humans, sometimes they are just careless animals. The balance is very good for a family movie.
So, dogs are good, but humans are... well, I already told about it at the beginning of this comment. The movie's great story are ruined by irritating try to dramatize not only situation of dogs, but also a situation of humans. Here are some worst decisions made by creators: professor decided to organize the travel to south pole only a half year after the dogs were left there. He did this not because Jerry begged him, but because he saw the drawing of his kid. It looks pathetically. The saving of last dog were also very imitative. There are such mistakes, like the amount of snow after 'very bad storms'. The chain, where the dogs were tied are only like ten centimeters under the snow, also, the yellow jacket of professor( left when he almost drowned ) wasn't under the snow after five months of storm. Also the decision, that the dogs should wait near the base half of the year was also very strange, but since the movie are made by real story, you can't know how everything were for real :)
Well, at the end I would like to say, that "Eight Below" has it's moments ( like the scene with the dead whale ), but the big amount of stereotypes and clichés, pull this movie down.
Sorry about my English :)
The Gravedancers (2006)
First half - horror, second half - comedy
The Gravedancers is one more movie, that fails with horror because of silly and imitative ending. Also, second half of this movie delivers very much illogical stuff.
The idea, that anyone can call some ghosts only with one dance on the grave and with one spell, may look too straightforward, but i think it is better than spiritualistic seance would be. Also, it is the fast way to get to some action :)
I loved first appearances of ghosts: the crackle in Harris house, the game with the doors and piano, that plays by itself, also, flaming footprints and creepy sounds was not very original, but created good atmosphere for a horror film.
Sadly, later, such horrific act as digging the grave, started to pull all film down. Well, if the coffin, that ignites by itself, or other coffin, that tries to take the girl underground with himself, is weird and scary, the attack of old and rotten skeleton is funny. There are some more funny moments, like giant head of the ghost, that chases the hummer or the fence, that compresses the house.
Also, there are a lot of plot holes, like when Frances wanted to see the evidence of ghosts. Like the flaming footprints or killer coffins are not enough.
Well, the movie is not very bad. The acting is not bad, the music is fair and the special effects are okay. The biggest problem is that like almost every recent horror movie, this one also can not even frighten you, but also it can make you laugh.
p.s. I think, that the scene, where Allison drives through the wall inside the house, is similar to one in old Swedish movie Besökarna :) Thank you.
Sorry for my English :)
Saw III (2006)
Exaggerated amount of intelligence
The first Saw movie was interesting, because there was not a lot of movies, where some killer tortures his victims and you can see all bloody details of that process. Also, there was a try to made the movie that is deep and full of surprises. The Jigsaw was not only stupid maniac, that kills his victims with an axe or chainsaw. He tries to make a point, why one or another people gets adequate punishment or test. And this psychological contest were supposed to make the film enjoyable for all audiences.
Now, when everybody had seen Hostel, House of Wax and other similar stuff, the psychological side of this movie has to be very sharp, to make this film deeper than other bloody movies. This makes "Saw 3" probably the stupidest one from all Saws.
The Jigsaw continues his game even he is already one leg in the coffin. He is like from another world with his magical capability to see all steps, that his players will make. He even can to record his voice in dictaphones, while he lies with brain tumor and can hardly talk with people around him. His game with Amanda was very stupid because the same reason.
So, this excessive amount of Jigsaw's intelligence is the biggest problem in this movie. The role of Amanda in his final game are also very stupid, it does not make any sense at all, except that it is an unexpected ending of the movie. The final game for Jeff was not a surprise for me. There are a lot of stupidity in other places of this movie, but you can see it yourself. Oh, by the way, the editing are very annoying. These short shots of blood, instruments of torture and similar stuff sucks more than in other parts of Saw.
Well, I liked that in this movie you can see the preparing process for games from previous movies. The scene where Jigsaw puts on some make-up and then lies in the puddle of blood was good. Thas was a good flashback to first Saw. Other preparations for games was also good.
Well, if you have seen previous Saw movies, you will probably watch this one as well. It entertains, but exaggerated attempt to make this film very clever strikes in a logical side of it. It develops a lot of strange and idiotic events, that is the biggest problem of all intense movies.

Wild Hogs (2007)
Could be better
This movie is worth to watch only because there are a lot of great actors. I definitely did not see so many famous names in one movie for a long time. And stars do their work pretty good. All actors are great and they look like they are all oriented to play in comedies.
There are some good jokes, but a lot of them are just copycats from other movies. And still they looks good, just because such actor as John Travolta can run into difficulty, that usually happens for characters in Dumb&Dumber movie :).
The end of this film is the typical happy ending of a Hollywood movie. I think, this flick would be more better without it.
So, if you want to see the simple funny movie with great actors, good music and happy ending, see "Wild Hogs".
Thank you Sorry about my English
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Lovely movie about the cruel world
I think, it is one of the best romantic movies ever made. Unusual, original and beautiful. I'm not a very big fan of romantic tales, but I just loved this film.
Still, "Edward Scissorhands" is not the flick only about love. Well, it is about love, but it is also about hypocrisy, betrayal and cruelty between people. Strange, different person always will be separated from other, 'normal' human beings. If some man is different in the outside, this means, that he is worse than others. 'Normal' people can be sick hypocrites, gossips or detractors, but still, they are normal and they can do whatever they want. Different person can be doomed for one mistake.
The flick also shows how worldly goods change people. And how anybody, that has everything, still wants more and more. This is bad thing, and director illustrates that.
This movie has everything. Sometimes it is funny, sometimes it is touching or even intimidating. It has some great actors, visuals and glorious music. People, who want a great entertainment, will love it. People, who like to see the movie with deep meaning, will love it too. "Edward Scissorhands" - the movie for everyone, and everyone should see it.

28 Weeks Later (2007)
Just another sequel...
28 Days Later was something. Without interesting plot, horrible zombies and highly tense scenes it had some deeper meaning about how humanity act in front of catastrophe. So, some people could find it entertaining and some people could learn something from it.
In 28 Weeks Later you can learn (again) that kids or teenagers are the biggest problem of all humans, because they are very rebellious and very brave. Kids are not afraid to go there, where even soldiers from NATO (with Americans in front of them, of course :)) are not allowed to go. So, kids make all the mess again and in the end, only they survive. 28... became a horror movie for teens.
There are a lot of plot holes, stupid behaviour of characters and only one thing that reminds an original movie. It is the beginning of this film. Scenes where Carlyle are running through a big green valley with zombies, coming from all directions, are great. I loved it and it prepared me for something like in original movie, but unfortunately...
So, if you are ready for some stupidity, for annoying kids in horror movies, for soldiers, that are worse than zombies, and for heroic action, see this film (and get ready for one more sequel in France). If not, see 28 Days Later. Twice.

The Simpsons Movie (2007)
A mirror of several latest seasons of TV show
A lot of long term TV shows have the same problem. Shows about ordinary family or people that live their simple lives in little cities are very simple and all situations in screen can be recognized from everyday life. Shows such as "South Park" or "The Simpsons" were prime at their first seasons. Plots were simple, characters solved problems in their own towns, with their neighbours and friends.
Unfortunately, later such shows become cardboard and soulless. Stories are fantastic, new and onetime characters appears in every episode and you can feel a boredom, because these shows are trying to report every pulpy sensation witch are sicken because it were in every newspaper and in all news a long time ago.
"The Simpsons Movie" has the same problem. The plot is too complicated and unreal. I don't know what to say more, because it has same problems as the last eight or seasons of TV show. The jokes are not bad, but tired and familiar from the show. The only great and very funny jokes are all about Homer. His cogitations, ideas and world-view are inexhaustible source of killing jokes and phrases. Homer is the funniest guy in the movie, but other characters are imperceptible.
So, in conclusion: the biggest weakness in this film is a cardboard story. The movie is still good, but if creators of show would create the Simpsons movie, let's say, ten years ago, I think, that movie would be at top 250 now.
Sorry about my English.
Taxi Driver (1976)
In my opinion, the best duet of actor and director of all times is Scorsese and Bobby D. They make crime films, that are so impressive and forceful, like nothing else in whole movies history. Well, F.F.Coppola and M.Brando are also a very good match, but that's it.
"Taxi Driver" - dark, sometimes a little creepy, very clever and logical film. Robert De Niro, with his outstanding performance, perfectly materialize a lot of sadness, depression, anger and disappointment that hunts his character - a young marine, who comes back from Vietnam. He seeks for a night job, probably because he can't be at home and spend his nights alone. A man, who came back home from a terrible war, thinks, that he can find peace in streets of New York City, but he is wrong. Soon, the violence and crimes in owl streets, makes his depression intolerable, and taxi driver has to deal with unrestricted criminality. His fight with gangsters is brutal, very realistic and perfectly done. It was the best shoot-out that i ever saw in movie.
Everything in this flick is great. Acting, directing, cast and music.
