Best Horror Franchise Out There
As a person who was born in the month of October, I don't have to tell you how many times my birthday and Halloween were a combined event. So needless to say, the horror movie genre is by far my favorite. Being sentimental kept me hung up on the Halloween franchise (we both began in 1978), but as I got older, blood for the sake of blood just wasn't cutting it anymore. Pun intended. In my adulthood, I needed to know, why is the bad guy doing what he does? Why is he bad? Why am I seeing all this blood? And my tired eyes needed more than just a knife for all that dirty work. Finally, the Saw franchise started. The first one blew me away with the wickedly twisted ending of Jigsaw being in the now infamous Saw bathroom the entire time. The second and third ones went a step further by introducing Amanda as an accomplice to Jigsaw's traps, most notably the Bathroom Trap. But I'd have to say the fourth one is my favorite in the franchise. Two reasons. The Trap for the rapist. I don't know of a single woman not clapping her hands and screaming "Yeah!" at that scene in the theatre. The other, how even after just watching the first three prior to going to the theatre, I was still shocked out of my seat at the end. I simply cannot wait for V, VI, VII...
