The Perfect Stranger (2005)
good comment on the origina Perfect Stranger movie
This is a great movie...not too long, certainly not ever boring. Jefferson plays Jesus perfectly, and you end up wanting very much to have to opportunity, as she does, to talk to Him across a table.. He is very real and not preachy, and you find yourself wanting more. well, heres the rub...the next three in this series are losers. Jefferson is scruffy, hippy and not a believable Jesus any more...what happened? its lost..next one He is on an airplane talking to a student, the daughter of the woman he originally had dinner with in orig film...not believable...next film is Him carrying a box to a bus for another woman,,,really laughable, and so scruffy...would you want the Divine One to carry you box of stuff and sound so empty of words, and next film is in a diner with two waitress talking of nothing!!! and He is looking so dirty and unkept that its a shame to do the film this way....so JEFFERSON...GO BACK TO THE ORIG CONCEPT AND START AGAIN. you were great in #1..but listened to the wrong advice and you lost.
The 3 best films of Jane Russell
This is one of 3 best movies Russell ever made: the other being gentleman prefer blonds with Marilyn and His Kind of Woman with Robert Mitchem...she is so beautiful, charming and totally a match of these two co-stars it is a pleasure to see them. Chandler is wonderful, what a shame dying at 42 from a bungled spinal operation(blood poisoning), or they would have surely made more movies together..check it out, a true spark between them...and ditto for she and Robert Mitchem in His Kind of Love 1955..they became lifelong friends until his death, Great interview by Robt Osbourne on Turner with the two of them. One Touch of Venus (1948)
Touch of Venus
This is a fabulous film. I was lucky to get this in VHS 7 years ago. what a great cast, and a great story for robert walker and ava gardner..they are like hepburn and tracy in their rapport for each other, so much comedy and love.....not a musical at all....great story and lively script wish they had gone on to make lots of movies together. two tragic stars who worked so well together and he died so young . what a loss of robert walker, so diverse his acting roles and every one was better than the last..see all his movies you wont be disappointed, and ava of course, a great beauty, but so serious in all her roles...in venus she shows her great comedy potential..see it.
Lucy Gallant (1955)
Lucy Gallant Comments
Lucy Gallant stars Jane Wyman and Charlton Heston have a great rapport in this wonderful movie. I have been trying to buy the VHS for 20 years. Is this web site saying the title is changed to Oil Town in 2005? thats very strange...i keep thinking that Jane Wyman has blocked releasing it. Perhaps it will be released on her passing. What a fun and well written movie!!! I cant wait to see it again...its NEVER on TV or cable... what a waste...check it out everyone, its a winner. Jane plays a jilted bride with her designer clothes for the honeymoon . Her train to New York is stopped in Texas with motor problems and she gets her luggage off, and finds that the women around the station are dying to buy good clothes, and she starts selling them right there, and thus begins a very successful department store very like Neiman Marcus. Charlton Heston falls in love with Jane, and what sparks from this as in Bogie and Bacal! They should have made more movies together, great performances all around. see it.
