Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011)
Surprisingly Good - Accurate
As one who has read Atlas Shrugged several times, I was pleasantly surprised how good this movie is.
How do you take a thousand page novel, much of it quite controversial, and turn it into a movie that will draw more than just Ayn Rand fans? I think they did a great job with the material at hand. The casting could not have been better. I did not recognize a single name, but each member of the cast fit their character just perfectly. Taylor Schilling IS Dagny Taggart. Grant Bowler IS Henry Rearden.
Likewise with the visuals. Each scene, for one who has read the novel, conveyed what the novel conveyed. I will not list examples in case you have not seen the movie.
Not everyone will like this movie. If you are looking for big names and blockbuster visuals, you probably will not. If you like a movie that lets you think, and makes you think, this moves makes you think. If you like a movie that you can experience, give this one a try.
I hope the next two installments are as good as the first. I give it a 9 instead of a 10 only because I have to wait for the next.
