Pae-neun Yeo-ja (2012)
Fresh take on old odd partner (action/comedy) theme.
This movie is quite clearly based off the odd partner police movies often involving a black and white colored person that comes out of Hollywood (action/comedy). This is however a bit more realistic, even if the fight scenes (as usual) is exaggerated. The sound and the normal speed of them was a fresh addition, it adds to the feel of the movie which is, as mentioned, a tad more realistic than the average one.
Worth mentioning is that the fight scenes are also more realistic in the way more "dirty" tricks are being used (ex: weapon versus no weapon, strikes from what in movies are odd angles and none lethal body blows with knives).
The story itself centers around a detective and two thugs, which can be seen as the odd sidekick (instead of the sister), who are good "bad" guys. And tours around 3kg of me th that gets into the wrong hands. It's decently phased, and the sidekicks are doing a good job at connecting you to the movie as they play the "average" person quite well (as mentioned excluded fight scenes). If they could have held back the number of people in the final scene i think the result might have been better. But, overall, it's worth a watch, if for nothing else the fresh touch on an old theme.
The Last Sentinel (2007)
3 things that was actually OK with this b sci-fi.
1. Some of the effects (dustclouds, some of the early bullet wounds - SOME) are quite nice. 2. The overall experience with the main character build in AI. 3. Conan o Brian has a small part around 1.17-18, decent work but the talk show host feeling ruined the little feeling the moment had.
The concept were OK, but the realisation terrible, as a sci-fi fan (not hardcore though) i found some parts a little entertaining as mentioned but overall this movie (IF every viewed) is spent best with a side activity (surfing, managing your comp...).
***A WARNING*** This specially goes out to those with tactical experience, you will get annoyed or laugh your way through some parts (even though it ain't meant as a parody).
