Tarzan's Three Challenges (1963)
A Great Movie, Except For Tarzan!
Tarzan is called in to watch over the heir to a kingdom whose uncle, played by Strode, is determined to make his son ruler instead. The movie is filled with the uncle trying to keep Tarzan from making it to the end of the obstacles or 3 challenges. The fight scenes are good. The story was good, the other actors were OK. Strode was great, in my opinion. I've never seen him play a bad guy before and he did a wonderful job. There was a lot of action and a pretty good plot. It kept my attention. However, as a lover of Tarzan movies since I was a kid in the 60's, I was shocked to see such a frail looking actor play Tarzan. I learned, as an adult, that he had been sick. Then they should have replaced him. Tarzan movies didn't call for great acting skills, but it did require "presence" Sadly, he didn't have it. Poor Mahoney certainly looked different from the funny guy in the 3 Stooges movies who was in love with "Nell, honey!"
Tarzan and the Slave Girl (1950)
Denise Darcel Steals Every Scene!
Out of all the Lex Barker Tarzan movies, I love this one the best because of Denise Darcel. She plays Lola, a feisty, buxom beauty who steals every scene she's in! Her sassy ways and sharp tongue gets her in a lot of trouble, but she doesn't care. She sets her sights on any handsome man she sees and isn't reluctant to let them know she's interested. Darcel's character is funny, too. She gets into a fight with Jane and gets tossed around the room! Too funny! It was nice to see a Jane who could handle herself, but there was no chemistry between this Jane and hunky Tarzan. The jungle trip to the secret city is also very good because it's creepy and full of suspense. In my opinion, it's one of the best!
Hawaii Five-0 (2010)
Another Disappointing Show
I didn't expect this show to be totally like the original series because, hey, this is a new day. But what I did expect were story lines with meat to them. This new McGarrett & Danno look like some wane, unshaven slobs that have no grit. Danno is a hothead who is always going over the top. He also acts typical-Italian with the hand gestures. I thought he would say, "badda-bing" any minute! Where's the shock? Where's the attention grabber? Where's the suspense? It ain't here in this show! The white actors were all wrong! Wasn't McGarrett suppose to be part Hawaiian? He didn't even lead the team in this show. All he did was stand back and watch as Danno had tantrums. I think the show is fixable, but they'd better do it soon. The way it is now, I won't be watching it. My brain can't take it!
