I think a new word needs to be created for these kind of movies...
My GOD this was bad... I expected it to be bad but not THIS bad!!! I literally laughed TWICE through the WHOLE movie. The look alike actors are interesting for the first 10 seconds when you go "Oh yeah he DOES look and sound like so and so". And then its all downhill from there. The story is utterly pointless. The cheap humor is thrown at you like a spray of painful bullets. I usually respect other people's opinions about movies. Different strokes for different folks, but with this movie? You have to have a slightly, no scratch that... HIGHLY underdeveloped brain to enjoy this flick. Thank the lord I didn't pay to watch this. Free off Redbox and STILL not worth it. It would have been the WORST way I could have EVER spent a dollar. I wish I could have turned it off, but once I start a movie, I hate stopping. I want my hour and twenty minutes of my life back, or the memory of this movie erased from my mind.
Saint John of Las Vegas (2009)
Could have been a LOT better... But still not terrible.
I was really excited about this movie. When I saw the trailer for this movie, I felt like it couldn't be out on DVD soon enough. As soon as this was out on Redbox I rented it. Lucky for me I had a promo code and got this movie for free. You can just see how low the budget on this movie would have been.
It had it funny moments which were REALLY funny, but they were few and far apart. When you snag actors like Steve Buscemi, Romany Malco, Sarah Silverman and Peter Dinklage, you ensure they have a script to match their caliber. This script was mediocre and the story had no drive or punch. I expected a bit more off the ending, but to me it was an anticlimax.
My suggestion is to rent this movie if you really like the leads. Steve Buscemi and Romany Malco have done a great job acting. If you are expecting a classy suave movie set in Las Vegas, look elsewhere.
Everybody's Fine (2009)
Very depressing, but good!
Went to a screening of this film today, and I had decided not to watch the trailer, or read anything about the movie before. Looking at the poster, I was expecting a Christmas-y comedy or something like that. I was totally wrong (and don't get me wrong this is definitely not a bad thing for the movie!) Just don't expect a laugh out loud comedy. It did have it's funny moments though, and those were great. The movie made me feel really really bad for the De Niro character, and through the whole thing just made me want to go give him a big hug LOL. De Niro's performance was great and made you feel what that character was feeling at that time. The other performances were also fairly good. All in all, a good movie as long as you are not expecting a straight out comedy! I would definitely recommend seeing this one when it comes out in theaters.
The Dark Knight (2008)
The best (Batman) movie EVER
I saw this movie in the theater yesterday, on the first day of release! I had already viewed the first 5 minutes of the movie from a special edition bluray of Batman Begins, and even THAT gave me goosebumps! The movie is pure brilliance! Every scene is so well crafted and executed. The score that plays through the entire movie, adds an eerie tone to the movie that helps the Jokers character! The single high note that plays while a new scene is being introduced, its just brilliant! It emotes so much tension, that you sit at the edge of your seat, waiting for the next scene to begin! Needless to say, the Joker was the star of the show! The audience was cheering him on, even though he was the bad guy! And the first time they show the joker on screen, everyone went nuts!! I've never heard this much cheering at a theater! Do yourself a favor, and WATCH this in the THEATER!
The Happening (2008)
M Night manages to create the "feeling" again!
I caught the movie this afternoon! The first screening of it in India, and I can gladly say that I enjoyed the movie completely! M. Night always manages to create this eerie feeling in his movies, and he manages to pass that feeling on to you very well! The movie is very creepy, but that just adds to the M. Night movie "feeling"! All his movies have it, and that adds to the charm! I walked in with low expectations, because the critics practically ripped the movie apart in their reviews, but I though it was way way better than Lady in the Water. It's not a very long movie, and keeps you engrossed the whole time! I strongly recommend watching this in the theater! And by no chance should you miss this flick, even if you missed it in the theater. The performances are not top notch, but you don't really notice it. The movie is very enjoyable and again, I strongly recommend at least one watch!
Just My Luck (2006)
Not at all as good as I expected...
I managed to watch this movie today and I am pretty disappointed with it. The storyline was so predictable. In my opinion, even the acting was only pretty average. Right from the start to the finish, there were so many times when I thought to myself, now this is going to happen, and it plays out exactly as I imagined it...But it does have a few good laughs...But they seem to be pretty rare...If you decide to watch this movie, watch it to relax and have a fun time! Its a pretty silly concept as well, but I guess on a day with nothing else to do, just pop the movie in and watch it to unwind without having to exercise your brain! I give this movie 5 stars because it has Lindsay Lohan! If it was not for that I would not have even been able to sit through the movie!
