El derecho de los pobres (1973)
Good football movie
I saw this movie, some years ago, on TV. This is a very hard to find film, shot in Ecuador in the seventies. The main story of the film surrounds the football atmosphere in Guayaquil, by that time. A group of poor kids have a dream: they want to go to the Estadio Modelo, and watch their idols during a soccer match between Barcelona and Emelec. Alberto Spencer, the best Ecuadorian soccer player of all times, makes his cinema debut, showing that he was also an acceptable actor. Beautiful Patricia Aspíllaga, shares credits with the sports idol. There are also some nice shots from Quito and Guayaquil, and some interesting supporting actors. Definitely a must seen film for every football-soccer fan.
24 horas de placer (1969)
Great comedy from the sixties
This is a good comedy from the sixties. It was shot in Quito, in 1967 although it was released in Mexico some years later. Silvia Pinal is always a strong reason to watch a movie. I would pick up a scene where she stands in the 20th floor of Colon Tower, one of the highest buildings in Quito, by that time. Pinal shows us in this movie how beautiful and sexy she could be. She appears driving a red sixties' sport car (I think one good old Corvette)in front of the Count's Portal, one of Quito's most beautiful locations. Also interesting is the scene shot in local disco "El Candil". Eduardo Zurita, a young Ecuadorian teen idol, plays one of his famous tunes in the film.
