Lust for life and art...
27 January 2003
Normally I like to read a biography of an artist life, but this time I was more than satisfied. The film gave me a warm insight view of this very special woman and her will to live. Special effects on paintings going into real life is perfect done. This is not an ordinary movie, but a work of art. As an art teacher I will highly recommend this film to my pupils.

Le roi danse (2000)
Although rich costumes, a sober film.
23 August 2002
Just arrived home from a jump into the 17th century at the royal court of Louis XIV. This film gives you an excellent inside look of one of the most protectors of the arts. You may find the story a bit thin, but the images are very carefully chosen and composed. It's not an ordinary costume show and happily made under the supervision of culture historians. Maybe the music does sound a bit the same during the film, but it also let you hear some magnificent moments. I enjoyed this movie very well because of the richness of the photography and the well balanced cast. I recommand this film to those who love western culture during one of the highest levels, the baroque.

I felt like a bird...
11 February 2002
For one and a half hour I felt like a bird, flying with the migraters high in the sky. What I've ever dreamed of became reality. This french filmmakers did an excellent job to tell you how worth while nature is. And in the only city sequence I felt a little ashamed of what we are doing to mother earth and her natural wonders. Although I didn't like the over romantic music sometimes, I felt like a child seeing for the first time the open space, a birds eye view at the earth, I was touched by beauty. Thanks to these filmmakers who took the challenge to make a movie in which birds play the headrole.

A great small movie about freedom and love.
18 June 2001
Sit down in a chair and listen and look carefully to this film. It's full of explicit details, telling you the small things of life who can be great. A typical European (Italian) movie, no stars or special effects, but a story told with simple well composed images. You can feel the emotion although it's projected on a screen. This is what film still can be: telling you a story about life and giving you material to think about those little things that makes it worth while.

Vengo (2000)
a sublime portrait about flamengomusic and life
18 February 2001
The story is told by images and music. A real semiotic statement and another ode to the love of music by the gypsie people. The film tells you a story about a vendetta and the consequenses of it, played by real people with deep human emotions. A honest document, another masterpiece after Gadjo Dillo and Lacho Drome. I love this movie and it made me laugh and weep, also I couldn't sit still during the music scenes with authentic flamengo/gypsie music. Any musiclover should see this film to explore the roots of spanish music.
