Great Texas Crime Movie
11 April 2019
I love the Texas crime sub-genre and this is a great entry! I also love Troll 2 starring George Hardy and it was really cool to see him in a serious role here. It was confusing at first because I've only ever seen him in what's now famously the "Best Worst Movie" ever made but he works out well in this, even alongside legends like Lew Temple and Gene Jones.

Surprisingly good

I had no expectations going into this movie and ended up being really surprised by this indie flick. Typically movies like this have a small personal story at their core but this one is much more epic than anything I've seen from similar indie/festival flicks. Without giving away any spoilers I'll say this one is great for people who love crime movies or shows like Breaking Bad. Several scenes are really good and tense wile other parts of the movie are beautifully shot, looking like they belong to a bigger (more expensive) movie.

Whew! It's Dark with a Capital D!
11 April 2019
This is possibly the darkest movie I've ever seen and I watch a lot of movies. It's important to know that it's a low budget movie and takes place all in one location with minimal effects. The best part of the entire movie is the performance from the lead played by Daniel De Weldon. This was my first time seeing him in a movie and his performance is unbelievably strong, especially for an indie movie. It's easily the most intense performance I've ever seen in an indie movie and I expect we'll see more from him. This movie is a great watch for anyone looking for something extremely dark to watch or anyone interested in seeing an early performance from an actor likely to make it big.

Slow Burn/Big Payoff

The story unfolds slowly, very slowly... so much that I wondered how the conclusion could possibly work but it does. You have to be patient but it's not as if the movie is dull or boring. In fact, I was busy the entire time speculating and trying to figure out what's really going on. The way things unfold, it's clear that something nefarious is going on behind the scenes but it's impossible to figure out. In the end it all makes sense and I'm interested enough to watch it a second time to pick up on all the little details I missed.
