The Women's War (2021)
Beautiful, sad and sexy
T h e W o m e n' s W a r pics up from where T h e W h o r e s (2018) left off. I'm not sure why the changed the name, as it's based on one book (a trilogy, I think). It's a really emotional and thrilling series; it tells about a brothel, managed by madame Kukk (Merle Palmiste simply sizzles in the role, no wonder she has taken all the prizes for it). There's love, hatred and betrayal. Several girls come and go, as do spies and collaborators. It's 1941, so there are the Soviets and the Nazis. It looks more like a big film than a TV series. The costumes, the locations, the music are the best. You'll laugh and cry and then laugh again, and I think laughter helped people to survive in these horrible times where death was waiting around every corner and every friend might have turned out a traitor.
Tenet (2020)
Short strory forced into War And Peace.
Mr Nolan has had an idea for a short film and has forced it into a full feature. Sadly the one cucial concept doesn't stretch out good and gets really tiresome and confusing. It's massively illogical and somewhat tedious inspite of mindblowing effects.
The Kennedy Incident (2021)
Bittersweet fairy tale
Saw this at the world premiere (online) and I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed a bit slow and too sweet at first, but you need to watch it to the end to understand why this was necessary, as it takes on much darker notes in contrast as the story evolves. I really liked the actors and the overall visual style. It's a fairy tale for grown ups, even though it doesn't necessarily have a happy ending.
