Corporate - one of the greatest movies
After viewing Chandni Bar, Satta and Page 3, I was eagerly looking forward to viewing Corporate directed by the Madhur Bhandarkar. And luckily, I did not have to wait long as the movie was telecast on 17 July, 2007 on Filmy channel. Just like his other three movies mentioned above, this one is also a great movie - in fact one of the greatest Bollywood movies I have seen. Nevertheless, the movie is for the serious viewer and not for the cheap fun seekers in the cinema hall. The movie shows what dirty roles are played by the politicians in all walks of life - just for power, money and the extra chill. After viewing the movie, one learns that even the Corporate world can stoop that low to make profits by hook or by crook. Almost all the characters played great roles but Bipasa Basu as Nishiganda Dasgupta was par excellence. Rajat Kapoor is very versatile actor and in this movie as Vinay Sehgal he proved as one of the great actors. I particularly liked the scene when he blasted Devyani Bakshi (Lillete Dubey) after losing the Best Entrepreneur Award to his arch rival Dharmesh Marwah (Raj Babbar). Vinay Apte as state Finance Minister Gulamrao Ingle acted better than a real politician. Kay Kay Menon (Ritesh Sahni) deserves kudos for doing a great job. He is a natural actor. Even the role played by the peons in the office was very natural. The security guards of the politicians( read ministers) also know what they do just to chill. I would recommend this movie to all the serious movie viewers and those who have not yet seen it, are certainly missing some thing.
Dev - a par excellence movie
I generally don't watch movies these days, due to the age (68) and not very good health. But when on very rare occasions, I get a chance to watch a movie and to my luck, it turns out to be a master piece. In this process, first I watched Page 3 (by Madhur Bhandarkar), and then Satta (again by Bhandarkar) and after viewing these movies, I realised that I indeed was missing some thing in life. Last night (8 July), I happened to watch Dev (starring Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri and Kareena Kapoor) and realised how great director Govind Nihalani was. After watching such great movies, one feels that there is no dearth of good talent in the country. Amitabh Bachchan and Om Puri are great assets to the film industry in India and their work needs no introduction or word of praise. Om Puri is such a versatile actor that to compare him with the acting skills of Amitabh would surely be doing injustice to both of them. After watching the movie, one feels ashamed to be living in India where religion always plays a dirty role. But India is not the only country to suffer from this malice. The late Amrish Puri (as Chief Minister of the state), exhibits his acting skills in great style, though his role is very small. Kareena Kapoor though still very young, plays the role of a matured person and quite admirably. I wish every one who has not watched this movie, to do so at the earliest.
God save us all from all the dirty politicians
A great movie by any standards. Songs were not required at all. Raveena Tandon is at her best and has proved that she can do any role, not necessarily glamorous ones. Atul Kulkarni, Shri Vallabh Vyas, Manoj Joshi, Hemendra Bhatia and Anju Mahendru all did justfy the confidence the director had reposed in all of them. The role of politicians played by some of the actors was very realistic. Madhur Bhandarkar has once again proved that he is one of the top directors in the country. The only other movie by Bhandarkar I have seen and liked was Page 3 and I look forward to viewing all his movies. Keep it up Madhur. I strongly recommend this movie for every one to view. Best of luck.
Indecent Proposal (1993)
Would love to see it again and again
I saw this movie on TV (was it on Star Movies or HBO?) In fact the title did not appeal to me.I really could not make out the meaning of the title. I must have missed watching the movie for at least five times when one day I decided I must watch the movie. And I did watch and really enjoyed it - title notwithstanding. The story of the movie was indeed mind boggling, more so myself being from India. For a number of days, I kept wondering whether such a thing was possible. Believe me, I never saw the three main characters before or may be I did not remember any one of them. To me, the personality of Robert Redford was quite appealing. In future, if I know of some movie that has Redford in it, it will undoubtedly become a must-see movie for me. I must have talked about the movie with a number of chat friends in USA and found a majority of them had not seen the movie. But the ones who had seen, had words of praise for it. I will look forward to watching the movie again since now I know the story and also know the main actors by their real and reel names. A wonderful movie by any standards.
