Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
Hallmark movie for the big screen
Beautiful movie but it felt like belonged on the Hallmark channel. The improbable story of a young girl abandoned in the marsh by her family then blossoms into a young, homely woman who manages to attract 2 of the hottest, most eligible bachelors in the county. She somehow is able to keep up with the latest fashions, have good hygiene and on top of that has perfectly coiffed hair. And speaking of hair who knew that men in the 1960's could or would get highlights. I'm talking about you, Tate. Overall, an enjoyable movie but does not live up to the hype.
The Bionic Woman: Fly Jaime (1976)
I've seen this story before...
This episode shows you just how cheap and lame the studios could be in the 70's. Some examples: almost every TV show of that era had at least one episode that took the characters on location to Las Vegas, which seemed exotic back then and must have been cheap to produce. Or there was a chase on the curvy mountain roadways near LA where someone's brakes went out. Thankfully, quicksand was starting to be phased in the 70's out as it has been popular for a long time. But this episode was a new low, while totally entertaining, it's just a light remake of the Six Million Dollar episode Survival of the Fittest. Not only is the storyline almost identical the producers even used some of the same lines for the characters. For instance, in the BW version Rudy tells Jaime she looks like a bionic Santa Claus. Oscar says the same thing to Steve Austin in the SMDM version. How bad is that?? There's even an action sequence featured in both episodes where Steve/Jaime grab a snake and throw it out of the way.
