The Mummy Returns (2001)
Good movie over all, but some confusing parts.
First...the special effects were very good. I liked how the oasis got sucked back into the temple at the end. The only special effect that I didn't think was all that good was The Scorpion King's face at the end when he was a giant scorpion...It looked too cartoonish and unreal. They should have imposed The Rock's face on the scorpions body. The fight scenes were great...especially the fight between Rachel Weisz and Patricia Velazquez...it was hot. The confusing part of the movie was about The Book of the Dead....in the original it made Imhotep mortal so he could be killed, but in this movie it brought someone back to life...How is that? I thought only The Book of Amun-Rha could bring people back from the dead, like it was said in the original. Plus, how did Anck-su-namun get brought back to life without the Book of Amun-Rha when the book fell into the liquid pit along with Imhotep in the original? Overall it was a good movie. Rate...8 or 9.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
A+ 5 Stars
I thought this movie was a good movie for the whole family. There is something for everyone in this movie.... singing, comedy, some action, very good music and thrills (for the younger audience). The director spiced the movie up with musical numbers by Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler. There were also some good stars in the movie; Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and a young Thora Birch (she was so cute in this movie). It's terrible that the only score for this movie was a promo CD (which is very hard to find and very expensive if you do find it)... and not a soundtrack. I really hope that Disney or some company re-releases the DVD version of this great movie.
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Burton's Best Film Ever... 10+ (5 stars)
Tim Burton made some alteration from Irvings version of Sleepy Hollow, but it still was a GREAT movie. For instance...Ichabod Crane was a teacher in Irving's version...Burton's - he was a constable. The movie had spectacular special effects and I'm not just saying that because I love special effects. I liked how Burton incorporated his own touch in the first scene..where VanGarett ran into the corn field and turned around and saw the scare crow with the pumpkin head...The pumpkin head face design looked very similar to Burton's character in "The Nightmare before Christmas." I highly recommend this film if you like horror/ thriller movies, a Johnny Depp and/or Christina Ricci fan, and you like special effects.. This movie is for you.
