The Holiday (2006)
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. I wasn't really looking forward to going (my friend made me) but I actually quite liked it. It isn't the funniest romantic comedy ever (there were not that many jokes) but it will leave you with a smile on your face.
The acting was pretty good. I thought that Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet were well-cast and put in good performances. I thought that Jack Black was under-used in a comedic sense but it was nice to see him in a 'straight' role. For me though, the real star was Jude Law, who knew he could do romantic comedy? He was excellent! I've never really warmed to his acting before (maybe I was watching the wrong films) but he was so sweet and funny (in a heartbreaking way) in this film, that you couldn't help but fall in love with his character.
The locations are very film-like. The LA locations are very palatial and the England locations very quaint but it is a movie after all! Overall, it's a good film. Watch it, you might be surprised at how much you like it!
I was left 'speechless'!
I was left 'speechless'...with happiness at this film.
(I might reveal a little of the plot, so if you don't want to know any thing about what happens go to the last paragraph- this is marked with a *)
I thought the idea was quite inventive- speech writers on opposing campaigns find themselves attracted to each other. This premise left a lot of room for comic situations (my favourite is when they are in the school).
The cast is great too. Geena Davis and Michael Keaton are captivating as the two leads and they are both really funny, by the end of the film you are really hoping they get together. They are supported by many other able actors, most notably Christopher Reeve.
The story and humour never feel forced and the ending is brilliant.
*This film has a great cast, great plot and is really entertaining, so go and watch it!

A film to make you smile
This is one of those films to watch when life gets you down. The cast are brilliant and have great chemistry and the plot works really well.
Although we might not have all tried to robbed a bank, the situations in the film really strike a cord (well they did with me).
If you want to watch a movie that will make you laugh, watch this!
