Take Me Out (2010)
This show is awful but, please, DON'T bring back Cilla....
...because Blind Date was another cheap, rigged, rip-off!
I'm amazed they've concocted another show like it.
Like Blind D..Date, the contestants are still desperate, shallow and fake, in appearance and personality.
Totally agree with the first reviewer, go out and meet REAL people!
Not like these, who are obviously just playing up to the cameras, the hype and the audience, with poorly rehearsed routines and chat up lines...
I'm not sure if I should be surprised or not that the British public still crave reality rubbish like this...
Open Water (2003)
Proof you don't have to spend megabucks.....
.....to create an engrossing movie with plenty of suspense and gut-wrenching angst!
You don't need earth-shattering special effects.
You don't have to have breath-taking scenery.
This is another example of how reality can - in some ways - surpass fiction.
To all the posters here who seem to enjoy slating this film and others like it, a budget of $130,000 with worldwide takings of $40m+ seems pretty successful to me!
Roll-on those Davids who use the story of the human condition against Hollywood's blockbusting Goliaths! Paul
I watched this film because I believed it was a fascinating subject; today's teenage generation seem generally too concerned with doing everything NOW instead of growing up at a natural pace.
After all, events are supposed to happen in chronological order for a reason and the younger mind/body is unable to cope with the decisions/traumas that adolescents/adults are better equipped to.
Often forgotten, the law is there to help and keep order not as a barrier to overcome! This film was, indeed, a frightening and all too realistic experience and, in my opinion, well-acted - especially by the younger actors/actresses.
Touching the Void (2003)
Let this be an example to us all....
This film serves as an excellent example of the courage and determination of the human spirit against seemingly insurmountable odds.
Maybe, to begin with, Simon and Joe's actions could be interpreted as being foolhardy but this is later countered by the tremendous sacrifices they are obviously prepared to make for each other.
At times, staggeringly frightening situations in contrast to breathtakingly beautiful photography.
Watch this film and these true-life experiences of the climbers will remain with you for a long time to come.
Bicentennial Man (1999)
I haven't seen many films that have made me laugh out loud, I haven't seen many films that have brought tears to my eyes and I can't recall one film that did both, several times during its course. Far from being 'just' another sci-fi extravaganza with robots and androids, this is a very human story.
Not a patch on the original...
I was very disappointed after waiting 5 years for this ' sequel '. The original had an air of sentiment, satisfactory acting, lots of action, good sets, etc. This offering is mor like a cheap ' B '-movie. In the first film, he was ' born in 1518 in the Highlands of Scotland ', in the sequel, we are told that he eminates from the Planet Zeist ?? The beginning is far too hurried, the characters have no depth. Even the musical score is poor. In my opinion, this is an embarrassment to the first film.
