Quiet Cool (1986)
Saw this on IFC a couple times
This Movie Showed up awhile ago on IFC. I just was able to find it to watch it Online again. Stars James Remar better known as being in the Cult Classic film the Warriors, and playing Dexters Step Dad in the Showtime Series Dexter. He Plays a NYC Detective. Who gets a call from his Ex and flys out West to get to the Bottom of some Trouble she feels a member of her family is in. You have a pretty decent Cast. Adam Coleman Howard who does not have a lot of acting credits but what is there is pretty cool and he has a Rather interesting Bio Page. Nick Cassavetes, Jared Martin, Chris Mulkey, Fran Ryan and Joey Sagal the Brother of Katie. These people have been in various TV shows and movies. It has a lot of action and many interesting scenes. In some instances it reminds me of Walking Tall. Its cool to look up the Credits of these actors and actresses and see where you might have noticed them before.
The Black Hole (1979)
A Great Movie ahead of its time
The toy line from this film was great as well. The Special effects were great. also Roddy McDowell as the voice of Vincent for some reason some of the toys were only available in Canada or Italy Such as S.T.A.R. and the Crew of the Ship. The film also had some Religious aspects to it. The Idea of Heaven and Hell. I remember seeing this Film when I was a kid at the Drive in. I watched it time and time again when it would be on TV. It has a Cult following, and a Very Strong Cast. Anthony Perkins, Robert Forester, Maximillian Schell, The relationship between Dr. Reinhardt and the Robot Maximillian is a very interesting one. People always call for Remakes of Movies I see no reason to remake this film. It stands the test of Time. I am one who is tired of all the Remakes. I don't mind that George Lucas went back and added a few things in the original Star Wars films and Remastered them. You don't remake classic films. Some can be better then the original in some ways. But to me most of the remakes are busts. Some Movies have been remade 2 or 3 times over, even more in some cases. Death Wish is being remade, the Beguiled, when the originals were so good to begin with starring Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood Respectively. This movie is highly under rated, if anything it deserves a Sequel. But its too late for that as key actors from the original have passed away. It was ahead of its time like so many other Sci Fi films from around that era before and after Star Wars a New Hope came out.
Great FIlm, Better Music
The Music in this film is better then the 1st if you are able to find the Soundtrack I would get it. Very inspirational. For some reason with the 1st Movie there are multiple versions of the soundtrack one with Tender years and one without. I purchased this film on DVD and it is a double feature which also includes the 1st movie. Even though you know John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band performed the music its uncanny how well Michael Pare made you believe he was the one singing. I listen to the soundtrack to the film quite a bit while cooking. Runnin thru the Fire Open Road Just a Matter of time three tremendous songs. Michael Pare made the character Eddie Wilson/ Joe West an Icon in my book.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013)
Good Flick could have been Better
I liked Ray Stevenson as Firefly though in the Cartoon and the Comics you never saw him without his Mask. Between the Two films they should have just taken the Scripts literally from the Comics especially the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow Narrative. Is Scarlett Dead, in the Comics she was basically Snake Eyes woman, as Flint and Lady Jay were together. The Bad thing about the Cartoon is Duke was the Leader of the Joes when it was really Hawk, they both could have co-existed in the Cartoon earlier. Also in the Comic Duke was introduced with Road Block, so that part of the Film Made Sense, Though Channing Tatum in the Sequel looked Small and less Tough then in the Original. Retaliation was better as it explained that basically the Reason Storm Shadow joined Cobra was because he was after Zartan. But it would have made more sense for Snake Eyes to not speak because he was injured in a Helicopter accident trying to save Scarlett, and that Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were War Buddies. It would have been nice to see Roadblock Cook a meal or something. There are so many tough Joes that could have been in the film it was pretty Cool with Bruce Willis as the Original Gi Joe, just like the Original appeared in one of the issues of the Comic. If they do make another film Serpentor needs to somehow surface or how about Kwinn the Eskimo and Dr. Venom. It also would have been interesting say Snake Eyes face was disfigured to see him infiltrate the Prison and be unmasked and everyone faint Every issue of the Marvel Comics are good Reads and have you on your toes as to what will happen.
If this Movie was Called Gi Joe people would have liked it
I think people need to give this movie a Break it was entertaining. It should be on DVD This movie had Dune Buggies with Laser's and Missiles Rad Motorcycles. I rate it along the lines of Flash Gordon, and the Last Star Fighter. It probably led to Edward Mulhare getting the job on Knight Rider. I remember watching this movie a number of times on HBO when we first had it on Cable, along with Flash Gordon, You might consider it a B-Movie. People need to remember Special Effects in 1982 were not what they are today. I give this movie a 10 because I enjoyed it, and would love to see it again. It would be cool to have had a Megaforce Toyline. The only thing we got was a Video Game. That I know of anyway. Gi Joe did come out with the Awe Striker Toy, and Robotech had a Cool Motorcyle in the 3rd Generation. This movie should have been marketed better. Hollywood Remakes so many movies that should not be remade. The tech in this movie was Cool. I liked its Bravado.
Son-Rise: A Miracle of Love (1979)
Should be made available to institutions and teachers
I only saw the very end of it but made a point to record it it will be on one of the Encore stations again on 9/18 It should be made available to Teachers, Families of Autistic children for a movie 30 years old it just shows you how a loving family can make a difference all I can say is I work with special needs children and this movie would help me understand the kids I am working with. I have dealt with children who have varying degrees of autism it truly should be made available as well as the Novel to Schools, hospitals and other institutions basically I see this film as a Great Teaching tool if it is not used already I just happened upon it by accident This movie as well as other made for TV Movies can help in many ways the networks that produced them should make them available So many of them are forgotten
there are many movies that I saw in School that I have made a point to find or see again.
Such as Rickie Ticky Tavie Bang the Drum Slowly Movies are for entertainment but also can be used as teaching tools
Please Put this Movie On DVD or on Television again
This Movie Belongs on ESPN Classic, BET, TV One, they show Something for Joey, Brians Song, The Hank Gathers Story periodically but this movie never saw the light of day again it seems. I remember watching it. I have an NFL Greatest moments on Tape about Ricky Bell he would probably have been a hall of Famer just like Bo Jackson probably would be if their careers had not have been cut short. He used to run in combat boots in the Deep Sand for a workout. The Three Best Running backs in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history are Ricky Bell, James Wilder, and Warrick Dunn. Offensively Bell pretty much single handedly along with Jerry Eckwood, Doug Williams and Jimmie Giles led the 79 Bucs to the NFC Title game along with that Tremendous Defense they had.
The Highwayman (1987)
Why is this not out on DVD???????
Many of the Fox series from the 90s are out, Namely Roar, Kindred the Embraced, Harsh Realm and Profit.
Knight Rider is out, A-team, Miami Vice, Even Airwolf.
I remember when it was on and was PO'd when it disappeared. I just saw a couple clips of it on you tube. Still awesome. Definitely ahead of its time. Also waiting on Vengeance Unlimited to come to DVD I do not know what NBC was thinking when they canceled it. Seems to me like many good shows get axed before getting a chance to find their audience or time slot. Even Quantum Leap got bounced around from time slot to time slot at NBC. Another great show from that time was SuperCarrier. I find it hard to believe that Sci-Fi has not picked this show up off the scrap heap, they used to show Automan, and Manimal for a time. ---------------------------------------------- You can find the episodes of this show on You tube plus I found it on DVD at Truckerflicks.com Its basically a bootleg DVD but good Quality recorded from the original episodes of the show back in 87 and 88 fans of the show put it together I think.
The Ending begs for the question will there be a sequel. Will the series be reborn with the Fight against the Shadow Some things were definitely changed slightly from the New Generation final episode since the movies beginning intersects that ending. I finished watching the Macross saga before watching it. The two best Robotech Series were Macross and New Generation they were neck and neck the Robotech Masters lagged a bit behind the other two and I did not see the New Generation for an eternity it seems before it came out on DVD because for some strange reason Cartoon Network would never show it they would only show Macross and Robotech Masters. Never could figure that one out. Robotech along with StarBlazers and Battle of the Planets are probably the three greatest sci fi/ fantasy series to come from Japan.
It would have been nice though to see Rook, Rand, Lunk, Annie and the rest of the band of Freedom Fighters who helped Scott Bernard so much in New Generation.
and what happened to Lisa Hayes???? and Lynn Minmei??
the original series never really mentioned either of them after the Macross saga and I never have had the chance to see the Sentinels parts.
Ghost Rider (2007)
To the people who said it sucked
To the People who said it sucked are just morons Its right up there with Spiderman, Spiderman 2, the Hulk, the Ghostrider voice, reminded me a bit of Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry Films. It also was kind of like Evel Knieval meets the Devil. I plan on seeing it again. It also crosses over a bit into the Horror genre. Ghostrider is the king of all the Skeleton Warriors in film, and in the world of art such as the Skeletons in the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Poster.
Definitely have to make another one a Ghostrider 2 with Ghostrider fighting the Vengeance Character.
Ghostrider was tremendous especially his use of the Chain. And Sam Elliott riding on the flaming horse was a great pick as Caretaker and Eva was hot. It had its comedy at times too especially the sunglasses which reminded me of Elvis Definitely a movie worth seeing again. I wonder what all these bashers and haters expected to see. I knew it was going to be a good one when I saw the trailer. The Special effects blew me away. Especially the flaming skull.
2nd on the list of Skulls and Skeletons would have to be the Dude from the Iron Maiden Videos.
