The Last Step Down (1971)
hail satan...not
This is a rather lame production involving two hookers who also indulge in strange sex with 2 guys in monks robes. Strange because the ritual begins with the women being rubbed with a dildo. Strange because the two women, who are hookers, seem to be indulging in this for kicks, not money. The fact that large breasted Uschi & Malta are the two hookers helps slightly. Malta is quite erotic; even if she is 5 lbs overweight the weight is mainly in her breasts so it's okay. Barren plot, low production values and bizarre photography make for a unpleasant movie experience unless you are the sort who likes anything that stars Uschi & Malta.
Wild, Free & Hungry (1969)
speed kills
This is a movie about men who race speed boats and the women who love them. Tired plot, dull acting and low production values make this movie instantly forgettable. Even the presence of soft-core queens Jane Sentas and Monica Gayle can't help this movie. It was directed by Gary Graver, who should have known better, considering his past successes. The love scenes are hampered by dark lighting and poor camera angles and, without good love scense, this movie stinks like a stone.
Sex Play (1974)
The girls can't help it.
Christina Hart was a marginal actress who appeared more in televidion roles than in films. However, she bared all (and I mean all!) in this film, prancing around totally nude for much of the film. Christina is at an exclusive girl's school (hence the reason they feel free to walk around nude) and the girls decide it is time to seduce some men. This film is about all the seductions, and attempted seductions that go on. No new ground is broken here, but damn that Christina Hart, she is one hot woman. A larger budget then most movies of this genre makes this movie partially worthwhile.
Terror at Orgy Castle (1971)
Black mass fever
A couple on their honeymoon spend the night at a castle. Little do they know that there are some sinister things going on. Eventually they get caught up in the peversion and mayhem. The married couple are both attractive to look at (especially the bride, who is stunning), and there's enough nudity to satisfy even the most jaded of viewers. Soft-core regular Jane Tsentas makes an appearance and does a lot with a very small role. No dialog, as they hadn't the budget for sound. Instead, there is a voice-over narration. Good, harmless fun.
Street of a Thousand Pleasures (1972)
thanks for the mammaries
This film will appeal to those who enjoy large breasted women. Back in the early 70's, before people were obsessed with being thin, and before average women were too health conscious, women were more rounded, including their breasts (thankfully). This movie is a paeon to those days when women weren't ashamed to be 5 lbs overweight. Not that all of the women in this movie fit that description. Some are voluptuous by the standards of any era. This film has a calvacade of most anonymous women (Uschi Digert and Malta being two exceptions) flaunting their assets. No plot, but who cares.
The Stewardesses (1969)
Fly Me
I must confes than I am a big fan of Monica Gayle, who although does not appear in the credits, has a phenomenal scene where sit sits naked and meditates and stretches her nude body every which way but loose. That scene lasts 30 seconds. The rest of the movie isn't much. Lots of pretty girls with a minimal amount of nudity, but not much in the way of plot. The film ends with Monica Gayle addressing the plane over the P.A. system. Watch her introduce the stewardesses and, amazingly, forget her name as well as the name of one of her co-stars. Incredible that they didn't re-shoot it, but that's low budget films for you.
Who Killed Cock Robin? (1970)
boring, boring, boring
This is an attempt at an erotic movie without any eroticism. A detective trys to find a killer and his search takes him to a strip club, a weird orgy and 2 nubile roommates. The lovely and statuesque Malta is one of the roomates; that alone should have made the movie good, but the scent is neither erotic or enjoyable. Although Monica Gayle appears in the credits, she is nowhere to be seen.
Southern Comforts (1971)
any excuse to get naked
The early 70's saw a genre of film that involved rural America, country bumpkins, as it were. One of the best was Southern Comforts. These movies really exist as an excuse for the women to get naked, and get naked they do. There are 3 main girl characters who get stranded in the sticks when their car breaks down. See them skinny dip, see them rape the country bumpkin, see them strip in a barn and strut their stuff. One of the 3 women is Monica Gayle, and her fans will not be disappointed as she spends about 75% of the film nude. Another lead character, Judy Angel, would soon appear in hard core films.
The Harem Bunch (1969)
Mid-east war was never sexier
There is a plot; 3 sexy Israeli spys infiltrate the Arab camp on an espionage mission. They they get captured and are on the receiving end of torture (not very explicit, thankfully). Then they take some acid and dance around naked. Lots of dead space in this film, but pretty Monica Gayle is one of the 3 spys: need I say more. There's one scene where Monica and several other girls get dressed in their barracks, and the sight of her putting on her bra and panties is worth the price of admission. There's also some phone yiddish accents that border on the sublime.
The Big Snatch (1971)
revenge is sweet, especially when it's sadistic
What could be better than seeing 70's softcore porn regulars Jane Tsentas, Peggy Church and Uschi Digert in various stages of nudity, ranging from full frontal to bra and panties. To reach this stage, 2 psychos kidnap 5 girls and have them jog in place, do push ups, touch their toes and stretch their bodies. All wear miniskirts...and, well, you can guess the rest. The girls are also forced to lie on their backs and stick their legs straight up in the air. Oh la la! Finally the girls get revenge and the best scene is when Peggy Church grabs a big pair of pliers and crushes the cocks of their tormenters. 70's soft core porn doesn't get much better then this.
Sandra: The Making of a Woman (1970)
monica gayle rocks!
Basically this movie is an excuse to see Monica Gayle in various stages of undress. There is a plot, but it is too cliche to matter. Girl from small town goes to big city in search of sexual fulfilment, etc. Ms Gayle, a veteran of numerous soft core flicks from the early 70's, has rarely looked better. Ironically, she has some acting talent, which she later displayed in mainstream movies like "Switchblade Sisters". The surviving edition of this movie has been severly butched by time, and several nude scenes have been excised. but what remains is still pretty good.
Strawberries Need Rain (1971)
Disturbing rip-off of Bergman.
A very disturbing movie, fashioned after Ingemar Bergman's "Seventh Seal". Monica Gayle is earmarked for death and gets permission to live one more day to "experience life". Not an erotic movie in any sense (unlike most of Monica's roles), but she showed signs of being a good actress, which bore fruit in later movies. This movie has little appeal except to those who worship at the alter of Monica Gayle. A few nude scenes, but the lighting and photography angles are decidedly non-erotic.
