Dark Harvest (2004)
I found this movie at our local Best Buy and since it was shot fairly locally to me, I just had to have it.
I have to say, I wasn't really disappointed at all. Sure, its cheesy and fairly cheaply made, but knowing it was a local production, I wasn't expecting Ben Hur! The acting was decent, the locales great and the script wasn't bad for the most part. The "special effects" weren't high caliber but there were a few "jumpy" moments in it that were enough to satisfy me. I think with some experience these folks could really make a theater-release quality film and I don't feel like I wasted my money on the purchase at all.
Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
a great ride
I had to travel one town over to see the movie when it opened today and it was well worth my time! From the moment it started, the action barely let up. I had made predictions on the plot before going in and it had enough twists in it to make sure I got quite a few of my ideas wrong, which is a wonderful surprise in a movie series that many say has outlived itself. The acting was above average on the whole and Bianca Kajlich was wonderful! I'll go out on a limb and say that she did a better job as a heroine in a horror movie than anyone since Jamie Lee Curtis. I'm looking forward to seeing her career take off like a rocket after this one! The script was good, the movie was well-made, there were plenty of surprises and squeal inducing moments and I'd go see it again in a heartbeat.
