The Pacifier (2005)
Good Clean Family Fun
Okay so this movie won't win any Oscars. Who cares? It's a fun movie with slapstick, and some good messages, like the importance of discipline, and following your dreams, not your parents.
Having seen and loved Brittany Snow as Meg Pryror on "American Dreams", which can be seen Wednesdays at 8 on NBC, I was interested to see how she would handle comedy. She did not disappoint. Most of the jokes in the movie weren't for her. She was there to provide a balance and show how hard it can be to deal with a loss, but trust me this is a comedy. The best comedies aren't rapid fire jokes. You need pauses to advance the story, which is where she comes in.
I loved Seth as the boy who is secretly acting in "The Sound of Music". It says a lot about Shane that, even though he is a military man, is willing to let Seth do a musical, and fight the awful vice-principal for Seth's right to do it.
The scenes with Lulu and her firefly troop were adorable.
Basically, this is a great movie to take the family to, enjoy a few laughs, and just have a good time.
Snow Day (2000)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off for the Pre-Teen set
This movie is "Ferris Buellier's Day Off" meets "American Grafitti" for the pre-teen set. It has no main plot, instead, it has several plots, like "Amiercan Grafitti", each plot focusing on a perticular kid. It has the light-hearted, anything can happen today, of "Ferris". Also like "Ferris", it takes place during the day.
If you are looking for a high-class intellecutal movie to watch at night, don't rent this. But if you are looking for a movie to watch with the kids in the afternoon, this is the movie. It is not the best movie ever made, but kids will like it.
