The Thing (1982)
I first saw this movie when I was 10 years old the night it first came on HBO. I was scared to death by what I saw but I loved it. I really thought that J.Carpenter got a bad rap with the sub-par reviews he recieved from critics. Who says aliens would be friendly. I honestly believe that if an alien visited us, this movie would be very close from the truth. I think in today's society, this movie would be a blockbuster. Overall, I rate this movie **** stars
Escape from L.A. (1996)
Good plot, Just not carried out good!
Being a die hard fan of E.F.N.Y, I waited for a long, long time for a sequal to be made. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the movie. The earthquake senario was the perfect backdrop for the sequal, but it's like they rushed through the story line to get to the bad guy. In E.S.N.Y., almost forty minutes pass before the "DUKE OF NY" appears in the movie. In this movie, you see "CUERVO JONES" appear in about 20 min. I only hope the mini-series carpenter is planning to do about our fav. tough guy is much better than E.F.L.A.(check out the snake plisken fan page).
Lat sau san taam (1992)
To me, there is nothing I like more than a movie with an easy plot and great action sequences(a ton of bullets being fired) and this movie has it all...........and then some!!!!
John Woo is a terrific action movie director. Many of Hollywoods so-called action directors could learn and should learn from his style. He is "THE MAN" and "Hard Boiled" is the action movie by which all other action movies should be judged!
The one that really started it all!!!!!!!
Now, I saw American Pie and thought it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. There's only one problem....... it's only, in my opinion, a nineties version of Porky's!
This movie is the teen practical-joke movie by which all others are judged!! It is simply the wackiest movie I ever saw. For those of you who have not yet seen it, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!!!!!!
Caan at his absolute Best!!!!!!!
I first saw this movie on cable about 15 years ago, and every time I watch this movie,I can't imagine ever wanting to double-cross Caan's character. A great story of a man who wants that one last heist so that he can retire and fufill his dream of having a family,a nice home and a quiet, jail-free future. But the other good thing about this film is that it shows you that when you get mixed-up with the wrong people.......it's alot harder to "get out" than one might think.
All in all, a great film!!!!
must see "Producers cut" for it to make sense!!
I just bought the uncut version from a video company and after watching it, it made more sense. Although a couple of things still were not explained fully, the flick has tons more footage.......(about 15 min. worth) and a totally different ending. The first Halloween is still the best but I will put 3 and 4 below this one. Again, you must see the uncut version to see that it's better than what people who haven't seen it is!!
Escape from New York (1981)
A possible taste of things to come!!
I first saw this movie on HBO in 1982 and thought it was one of the coolest movies I ever saw. Granted, I was 9 years old at the time, but as I grew-up,the movie made more and more sense. With all the events going on around the world, the hostage crisis everywhere, and the increase in crime, we needed to see something worthwhile in a movie. John Carpenter brings you that and more. The thing that makes this movie so good is that it was made on a 6 million $ budget and pulled in almost 10 times its budget, and that what he shows us in this film can actually happen. It is quite believeable. since then I have seen it so many times, I know every line, every scene by heart. I recommend this movie because it has the ultimate anti-hero in Snake Plisken. A very unique character. Though he cares about noone or nothing but himself, you still find yourself rooting for him because he's taking a job with impossible odds.
SNAKE PLISKEN RULES!!! SNAKE IS KING!!!!
Mean Guns (1997)
I saw this movie at the video store that I work for and noticed Ice-T and Christopher Lambert on the cover and figured that it could'nt be that bad. Well, let me tell you........for a low budget movie, this flick totally rocks! The story line keeps you interested in the movie especially when the action starts.
The people who wrote this did a good job for a low budget flick. The best part is when you realize that the people gathered at the prison must eliminate each other from 100 or so to 3 sorvivors as punishment for whatever crime they commited against the syndicate. The survivors are then to split the 10,000,000.00 reward at the end, which is the incentive to backstab even you're closest friend for that money!!!!!
All in all, a great movie with a neat ending!
The Matrix (1999)
I saw this movie after months of waiting and it was more than I expected to see. I figured to see a kick-ass, shoot-em-up sci-fi movie. It was all that and more! It also leaves you thinking about the world around you. I thought when "mouse" made the reference about everything tasting like chicken, there probably wasn't a single person not laughing at the theater. Although it drags a little, there is plenty of action to make up for it.The only thing is that you have to pay close attention to the story, because if you don't, you could miss something. I saw it three times before I caught everything. The eye-popping effects are worth the price of the DVD.
The best thing about the movie is that it leaves the story open for a sequel. I absolutely loved it!!!!!!
