Outstanding film. One of a kind.
I reluctantly watched Antitrust after my brother bugged me to. Then i realised that it was everything he had told me it was. Brilliant storyline. Good acting and the only movie of its type. Well done. The actors and creators should be congratulated.
Incredible, an oldie but a goodie
YAHOO, what an amazing movie. This movie is simply supercalafragalistic expialladocius! Thrills, spills and zills! If you love Aladdin you'll love this movie. If you love lamps you'll love this movie even more. If you love WONDERFUL lamps, you'll love this movie even more yet. If you love Aladdin and wonderful lamps, you'll ADORE this movie more than any before!! Amazing - 11 out of 10.
one sequel too many (maybe even two)
One has to wonder why this movie was ever made. Surely the people behind the fantastic success of Superman and Superman II should have known better than to waste their (and our) time with this awful movie. The only reason I could think of is that Superman III was without doubt one of the biggest disappointments in movie history, and the crew may have tried to redeem themselves by changing the entire concept of Superman. It did not work and the fourth Superman ended up being a lot worse than the third one. My fantastic childhood memories of Superman will not be dulled by this one poor movie, however. Let's hope we don't see a Superman V any time next century.
Family Matters (1989)
A funny program, but went for too long.
Family Matters was a good, funny sitcom but ten years (1989-1999) is far too long and the show seemed to lose the plot after about six or seven years. Jaleel White's portrayal of Steve Urkel was magnificent, and even towards the end of the show's tenure, he managed to stay the same. Despite the fact that he had entered his early 20s and put on a bit of muscle, he managed to be the nerd-role consistently. Most of the characters were good, with the exception of Richie, the little brat. The similarities between him and Michelle off Full House made me sick. However, this is probably the only similarity between this show and the insipid Full House. Like the Cosby Show, Family Matters seemed to lose appeal the longer it went on, and the storylines became unrealistic and stupid, But I always enjoyed watching it, especially Jallel White as Steve Urkel, who like the Fonz (Happy Days) and JJ (Good Times) made the transformation from co-star to the program's super-star.
The Simpsons (1989)
The greatest comedy of the twentieth century
The Simpsons is the greatest and probably most original comedy of the 1990s, maybe even the twentieth century. Its greatest strength is in fact its originality. At the best of times The Simpsons is actually very unrealistic, but the fact that it is a cartoon allows it to get away with this. At the same time though, The Simpsons is much more like a real-life sitcom than a typical cartoon program, and therefore cannot really be categorised as just a cartoon.
The first few seasons saw The Simpsons develop slowly and the characters all started to grow. In order my top Simpsons characters are:- 1 - Homer Simpson, the king. The most influential cartoon character of all time (Dad, you're a very old man and old people are useless) 2 - Grampa Simpson, whiny and annoying, but extremely funny (Just eat the damn orange!) 3 - Bart Simpson, originally the main star, bad boy but a good heart ( 4 - Chief Wiggum, makes Homer look intelligent and thin (Bake him away toys) 5 - Lionel Hutz, the worst lawyer ever but very affordable (I move for a bad court thingy) 6 - Moe Szyslak, Homer's best "friend" (Pipe down rubadub) 7 - Hans Moleman, (oh no, my brain) others- C.M. Burns, Principal Skinner, Dr Nick Riviera, Apu, Krusty the Klown.
Even the worst episodes of The Simpsons aren't all that bad, and the fact that it is a cartoon means longevity is not necessarily a hindrance, i.e. the young characters do not grow old or change. The cast is only about 14, yet there are well over 50 characters in the show.
Funny and clever, and most of all original, The Simpsons is the pioneer of a whole new genre of television, with shows like South Park and Duck Man following suit. Although South Park has developed a large cult following, it is still leaps and bounds behind The Simpsons.
The last couple of seasons of The Simpsons have seen a slight decline in quality, yet I don't really see this as a major problem. The show has already ran for over a decade, and given its nature and the fact that storylines for such a program are not as complicated and hard to find as some, I can see this magnificent program running for another three or four years at least.
What a load of rubbish
Rushmore was not only the worst movie of the year, it is without any exaggeration, the worst movie I have ever seen. Three days after it came out in Australia, I went to the cinema to see it and ther was about six people in the whole place. And I was with two of them. The movie was dull and boring and the constant talk about "hand jobs" was funny at first, but then got ridiculous. Very disappointing, I rate this movie 0/10.
I found the first Autin Powers movie very amusing, but the sequel has got to be the funniest film I have ever seen. Mike Myers is a comic genius, and in my opinion has taken over from actors such as Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler as Hollywood's funniest person. Although Austin was the main character, Dr Evil and Mini Me really made the movie so great. Heather Graham is a babe and was great as Felicity Shagwell. Fat Bastard was not my favourite character, but he showcased Mike Myers' comic ability more than anyone. I went to the cinema to see this movie three times, and I would go three more times. It was simply hilarious. Hail Mike Myers!!
Married with Children (1987)
Married With Children has got to be the greatest show ever. I rate it right up ther with Seinfeld and The Simpsons. Al is the king of sitcoms, Kelly is simply divine, Jefferson and Bud were perennial losers, but kept me in stitches with their antics. Peg was annoying and lazy but also quite funny. Marcy was excellent. Her verbal jousts with Al and also Jefferson were legendary!!
Married With Children - 10 out of 10 !!
