Runaway Bride (1999)
Better than I thought
I saw two movies that day and this was the second one...I was thinking oh well i'll go see it , it'll be ok..Boy, Was I wrong! It was better than I thought it would be..It was hilarious..I laughed at the movie and throughly enjoyed it more...Roberts and Gere were great together..I don't remember Pretty Woman that well(I don't even remember it at all actually) but I remembered Runaway Bride after the movie was over. This is a very good romantic comedy and its rating, PG makes it recommended for the whole family.
Nothing to do with the book
I really didn't like this movie...the best thing was the very end although I kind of guessed it. I knew that the plot was supposed to be based on it, but it didn't make sense in the movie of who was getting slashed or killed. There were a lot of unecessary characters in the movie who get slashed for no apparent reason (Maybe just to add gore) I tried not to compare the novel to the movie( I had read it a few months ago), but the book kept coming back to me. If you want to read the book,go ahead...it is really good and much better than this movie...I don't think this movie did the author justice..just using the title and a loosely based plot...What really unnerved me was the character names..nothing to do with the ones in the book.
I don't think the screenwriters read the book. Probably just read the jacket summary.. I hope that an intelligent screenwriter reads this book and makes a movie that would be more appropriate for this kind of book.. That's all i have to say.
A fantastic, magical film...
I first saw this film when I was 11, and unfortunately all I remembered was the Escher room and the Ballroom scene(my favorite now). So when we finally bought the DVD and I watched it again, it was like seeing the movie for the first time and I LOVED IT!!!(even though I was 20something at the time). Now, I bought the soundtrack and absolutely love it and have added this movie to my list of favorite movies. David Bowie is perfect as the Goblin King(my favorite character), Jennifer Connelly is a good choice as the heroine, and all the creatures are very entertaining. No matter how old I get, I will always enjoy watching this movie again and singing along with David Bowie "Dance Magic Dance"...
The Watcher (2000)
Despite what the critics said, i liked it
I liked this movie. Of course I am a sucker for anything fictional about serial killers. Despite what everyone said, I went and saw the movie anyway and I liked it. I understood the relationship between the serial killer and the detective(which is evident in lots of stories I've read). What I really enjoyed was him watching him constantly hence, the title, "The Watcher". The one thing that really freaked me out was after I saw the movie(at night, alone) and walking out to my car in the parking lot, I wondered if there was someone watching me at that time. If I had seen that movie with someone else, it probably wouldn't have that effect on me. So actually now it was probably was an excellent movie to have affected me that way.
Final Destination (2000)
I just saw this movie and I liked it. It kept me guessing how someone would be knocked off and trying to figure out who was next. The ending was especially good...i think there was a cliche there, but I knew exactly what was going to happen there, and the saying rings true, "You can only cheat death once" There was a particular death scene that seemed to come out of nowhere and just totally jolted me. You'll have to see the movie to see what I'm talking about. If you don't mind blood and medium graphic violent death scenes go see this movie...The killer is death but where is he now?
Dark City (1998)
I can't believe it...I saw this film the day it came out and loved it totally. The special effects were great and it really looks good in a movie theater.... I bought the DVD in widescreen and only watch it when it's dark. I can't believe how much I loved this movie...I actually saw it twice... It's my favorite movie now....and probably will be for a long time.
I loved the characters and the actors who portrayed them. I think everyone did a sensational job...See this movie if you love sci-fi, film noir, or the Crow...you won't be disappointed.
Wild Things (1998)
Not exactly what I expected but good
Well, I was told a little about this movie before I saw it, but only the R rated parts. I didn't expect all the twists at the end. Some told me to stay for the credits(but I do that for every single movie I see) but now I know why. I was surprised at the characters and how they crossed each other and someone is not always who they seem. The end made sense as soon as I saw the parts they left out. I was like "oh!", so that's what really happened. Bill Murray is great, as always. Neve Campbell is good. I never saw her as a bad girl, but it was kind of cool to see her in a different light. I just love the twists in this movie. Everything I saw was unexpected. This movie was good and I probably will buy it on DVD soon...
