Against the Moon (2014)
a psychological nightmare
the video intended to double the dichotomy between affirmation and repentance that's present in Elias Bender Rønnenfelt lyric set. While aspects of that do come through (with a vengeance), it's the ambiguity that winds up taking center stage; nearly all of "Against The Moon" is composed of effortlessly arresting one-shots, refusing to let its characters intertwine on an explicit or definitive level. Every moment of staging is rooted more in suggestion than cause or consequence, forcing the viewer to face an array of uncomfortable questions and grapple with things as essential as empathy. It's a revolving door of character study, presenting each subject with equal care, unafraid to focus in on what appear to be their lowest moments. It's a psychological nightmare. It's a brutally meticulous examination of standards. It's a an unfailingly harsh reminder of life's darkest corners. It's beyond important; it's necessary- and, most of all, it's a masterpiece."
War Horse (2011)
Do I like it?
no, I do not, a film wonderful executed, great camera work and fine actors,, if one talks about the script , I really do not like it. There are only decent and good characters in it, very good English characters, very good French characters and surprisingly very good Germans. The main character, the horse, equipped with super natural powers,is of course the favorite of any animal loving person, mainly of course the English. So this is a film which did not move the American audience, I can't blame them, a very, very slow and boring film. I assume this is now another film which did not make any money after The Adventures of Tintin (2011), I have all my hope on Lincoln (2012). I hope to see a film in the exciting Spielberg direction I used to appreciate so much
Río seco (2006)
A salute to a great Spanish actor
This is a wonderful , warm hearted document of a Spanish actor. Looking at his CV makes you aware of the greatness of this man, once a favourite of so many outstanding directors like Sergio Leone, Sergio Sollima etc, but now almost forgotten. He has worked in over 150 films and this is a film about him, an aging actor who is waiting just for one more phone call, one more participation in a film and in this waiting game he is reminiscing in his past, flashes of film scenes of times gone by . Aldo Sanbrell is a proud actor, an aristocrat among the Spanish actors. This short film a testament of his colourful life in films, in particular between 1965 - 1977. He now lives in Alicante, a coastal town in Spain, with his wife.
Kingdom of Heaven (2005)
Where is the "Scott Free " touch ?
I am purely speaking about the film-making and acting. this film has been let down by its principal actor Orlando Bloom and by the script. His part should have been played by a more capable actor, more passionate, stronger . Don't get me wrong, I liked Orlando Bloom in other films, but he is not a leader. He is no Mel Gibson or Russell Crowe. Just a soft spoken young actor with a talent and good looks, but here cast in the wrong part.
Ridley Scott, can he ever do something wrong? Apparently yes, this is a film which does not deliver, long boring passages spiced up with beautiful photography.
A supporting cast of great excellence, divine photography, but it needed just that special "Scott Free" touch we love and honour so much!
Oh dear, what can I say
A film I saw till the end but with great difficulties. Directed by a favorite director , Wolfgang Petersen. So much money wasted on so few excitement. The actors wooden and stiff, in particular Orlando Bloom. What were they thinking. Never saw Brad Pitt looked so pained. Still stunning looks but used in the wrong story.
Brian Cox,an excellent veteran actor, the only highlight. A film to forget, never to mention again and let there be hope for a more enthusiastic Wolfgang Petersen, the director I remember! By the time the film was over I made it my personal task to wake up a few other viewers and guided them out of the Cinema. What a night!
