Miami Vice (2006)
Could have been way better!
With all the money it took to make this movie, I can't believe how weak the story is and how bad the film looks. I know the director was trying to make the film look more like reality the way it was shot, but I don't think it works. I was too distracted at how cheap the image on the screen looked. At first I thought Collin Farrel was perfect for this movie, but after seeing it I totally changed my mind, and that goes for the Asian actress as well. Besides there is no chemistry between the two. A beautiful Latin women would have been more believable, being tied to a Columbian drug lord. What bothered me the most is there are no elements of the Miami Vice TV series, Mr. Mann should have listen to Jammie Fox when he said, hay lets do a movie version of the "original Miami Vice". All I can say to that is, don't try to fix it if it isn't broke. Sure 20 years has past, and styles have changed, but Miami is still beautiful, sexy, and hot. What happened to that in this film? That's what made Miami Vice such a hit TV classic, that's what people want to see. Not a muddy looking cop drama weak story, that only has the name of the original series.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
A good film with too much hype.
I'm a big fan of low budget independent films, and I'm happy to see that this film has done so well. It just goes to show you that you don't need 50 or a 100 million dollars to make a entertaining movie. With that said, I thought this movie was just good, not great, and not all that funny. Being from an Italian American family, I can honestly say nothing in this film is new to me or has not happened in my family. Some of the jokes where over done, and to me it got a little boring. I was waiting for something to happen, that would really make this film great, and I thought it would come in the wedding scene. But over all, I very happy for the writer and the film makers.
Analyze That (2002)
I really enjoyed this film, and I'm sure there will be a part three. Go and see it, just as funny as part one. The key to enjoying this film is not to expect it to be better than the first.
A great short film.
This is the best BMW film made, the camera work and car driving are the best. Guy has proved to me that he can direct a great action movie, and should be given the chance. This short film alone is more entertaining than Gone in 60 seconds with Nick Cage.
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
I did not expect a good movie.
But it was fun to see. Anybody who knows something about high performance cars will think this movie is a joke. I wish the film makers did more research on the cars, and where the hell does a teenager get 60 or 80 grand to dump into a Honda Civic? And if you had that kind of money, why would you. Vin Deisel talks about his 10 second quarter mile car, but the big drag race at the begining of the film takes them about a minute or more to get up to 140mph. And why the hell did the film makers have to use those corny special efex to make the cars look like they are going fast, I hated that crap. Attaching the cameras to the cars and driving them down a closed street at 80 or 100mph will give a better sence of speed. Just look at Ronin. I know this film was made for the PG13 crowd, but give the rest of us a friggin break! It's can't be that hard to make a realistic good car movie even if your actors suck.
