I'm making possibly the most comprehensive favorite movie list ever!!! Ranking every movie I've ever seen using Paired Comparison Analysis. First, year by year. Then, the top 80th percentile from each year advance to the decade round, and from there the all time round.

I'm making (I hope...) the most comprehensive favorite movie list ever!!! (No sense in being arbitrary with such a commonly asked question!) So I'm ranking every movie I've ever seen using Paired Comparison Analysis. First, year by year. Then, the top 80th percentile from each year advance to the decade round, and from there the all time round. I'll admit that a number of movies a much younger me saw long ago may be appreciated more or differently now, but in their cases, I only have my reactions at the time to draw upon.

Using paired comparison analysis, I'm ranking every movie I've ever seen, year by year! The higher ranking movies will advance to the decade round,m and then the (probably) most comprehensive, or at least thorough, list of all time favorite movies ever! There's a lot of movies from 2011 I still want to see, off all that I've seen so far, here's how they ranked:

The lists where I don't know a clear winner going into it are the most fun, and for 1986, I could have seen any of the top 4 taking the top spot, and there isn't a movie on this year's list that I'd go out of my way to truly despise, or even pick on. And yes, I realize 1986 sports some of the worst movies ever made, in some respects the worst of them are some of the more likable...

Using Paired Comparison Analysis, I'm ranking every movie I've ever seen, with one question; Which one do I like more. The favored film gets a point, the other gets a 0, but sometimes they tie, and split the point. For each year, movies with a .8 average or better advance to the decade pairings, and eventually to the my "Favoritest EVER" round, for the most definitive favorite movie list ever, considering every movie I've ever seen to the best of my recollection. This is how 1992 stacked up...

This is not a statement of quality, other than the only quality entertainment can have is how entertaining it is. Sometimes you like a bad, poorly written movie more than a masterpiece. We all do this; The most recent an Academy Award for Best Picture was the highest grossing movie of the year was 2003 (1997, 1994, 1988, 1979, & 1976 in my lifetime...)
