Dinner with Friends (2001)
Waste of my time
This movie never went anywhere. There was little point to this movie. The dialog was painfully boring. Andie McDowell was the only good thing in the movie. Her character seemed more natural and less forced. Dennis Quaid's character had annoying mannerisms and an irritating way of talking. Greg Kinner's character was all over the place. There was little or no cohesiveness to the character. Toni Colette who I LOVE was basically a non-entity in the movie. Her best dialog and acting came within the first 15 minutes of the movie. It sucked me in and made me want to see what happened...but NOTHING really ever happened. The movie also jumped back and forth between current time and 1988. This was supposed to show the beginning and end of the relationship. But there was very little explanation, and didn't even help move the movie forward. I wouldn't suggest wasting your time on this movie.
A Night at the Roxbury (1998)
Don't see this movie
After watching this movie I realized one thing: Those were two completely wasted hours of my life that I will never be able to get back. I kept watching, like one slows down to watch a car wreck, thinking, it has to be better than this. But now I think this movie was sent down as a punishment for some heinous crime. A night at the Roxbury was vapid, uninteresting, and BORING. I love Saturday Night Live--OK, I USED to love SNL, but now I'm only tolerating it--but this movie should just go on the DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES list.
In My Life: A Unique Recording Project from Sir George Martin (1998)
Documentary following the making of the George Martin CD "In My Life" a fitting tribute to the Beatles.
In My Life is a great little documentary on the making of George Martin's last (according to him) work producing any form of music. This documentary provides a look into some of the production of the In My Life CD, on which George Martin asked some of his "friends and idols" to perform Beatles songs. Included on the documentary are interviews with Phil Collins (Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight/The End), Jim Carrey (I Am the Walrus), Robin Williams and Bobby McFerrin (Come Together), Goldie Hawn (A Hard Day's Night), and Celine Dion (Here, There and Everywhere). I think the CD was a wonderful tribute to the music of the Beatles. And this documentary was a nice little peek into the creative processes behind the music making process. This is definitely a must see if you have the CD. And the CD is a definite must have for Beatles fans.
Other songs/artists included on the CD, but not in the documentary were: Jeff Beck-A Day In The Life John Williams-Here Comes The Sun Billy Connelly-Being For The Benefit For Mr.Kite George Martin(reorchestration)-The Pepperland Suite George Martin- Friends And Lovers Sean Connery-In My Life
