Great fun seeing Australia
cekadah15 March 2020
Take a cross country railroad tour of the back country in Australia. From west coast to east coast and from south to north. Griff Rhys Jones offers up grand scale visuals and small town stories in this series. It is both entertaining and informative on living in the great land down under.

And the trains are very kewl !!

What about Victoria and Tasmania
ianwrosel11 January 2022
Spent a lot of time in Queensland and some time in NSW, WA and SA. Griff's presentation style is a bit different and some of the places he went have not been covered in other series about train travel in Australia. But, and it is a big but, he did not visit Victoria and Tasmania. They do have noteworthy trains and train trips in those states.

Very informative television series

There seems to be an influx of British television shows with elderly male hosts travelling around Australia lately and this is one of them. Griff of the rails is very informative and he travels to places that most other British travel shows don't go to. I think Australians would already know about most of the places Griff travels to but I think everyone else will learn something new.

Engaging with information

Griff's sense of humour makes it fun and engaging to watch the series with more detailed information than we ever (bother to) know about Australia. It was good to know about the beautiful regional places in Australia and makes one to visit them once in a lifetime to experience it. I think it does have a repeat value! I hope they make another season (with Griff again) with a road trip this time!

Skipped too much.. Watched the Brisbane to Cairnes episode.

Warning: Spoilers
I realise they can't stop at every place on the journey but Griff skipped most of the places we visited on our trip. Disappointed to be in Cairnes almost as soon as he left Brisbane., great though Cairnes is.

For a laugh but can't be trusted!

I watched the episode Alice Spring to Adelaid including Coober Pedi.

It was all great fun especially having been in the Gang and all the town mentioned there.

He's certainly an entertainer and very pleasant.

But I won't forgive him for telling us that the Muray river is the 5th longuest river in the world... And I won't forgive myself for being so naive, stupid and in such hurry to repeat it to my friends.

This river is long but only 2,500 km with no competition to a few others double or more that length!

So as much as I enjoyed watching it I don't know what else to believe in all the info he mentions.

Such a shame as it could be a coud and fun educational tool.
