Great movie!
caseymasters-9749314 April 2019
Loved this one! I really loved how the 2 main characters took it slow getting to know each other and on a deep level. Will definitely be watching this one again! A great beginning to the spring season!

fredmaier-32548: if you had watched more than 5 minutes, you would've seen that there indeed were more than flowers in the community garden. It was one of the storylines with Ms. Hewitt and Mr. Boyle, where they fought over her tomatoes and his peppers.

Enjoyable Sara Rue Hallmark movie
dgcrow25 April 2020
I've been a Sara Rue fan ever since "Less Than Perfect". Granted she's made better TV moves than this one, such as "All For Love", "Dorfman in Love", and "My Future Boyfriend". But this one holds up pretty well, and has some charms of its own. Certainly worth seeing.

Chace Devine, Chace Devine, Chace Devine
EPMD577 April 2019
I have watched the first half of this movie, and I must have heard the full name "Chace Devine" a few dozen times already. The writer clearly loves this fake name and doesn't allow anyone to say just half of it. It's really odd.

The plot is predictable. I know how the rest of the movie will play out, but I do think it's good enough to keep watching...at least in the background. I also like the lead actors. They aren't going to win any Oscars here, but they have a quirky, natural way of acting out their scenes that elevates them above the average Hallmark cast.

Worth a view, in my opinion, but keep around something else to do during the lulls.

and they have flowers
SnoopyStyle5 July 2021
Vikki George (Sara Rue) runs a 20 year old community garden in the city following her late father's footsteps. She's shocked when the garden is sold to condo developer Chace Devine (Jordan Bridges).

Both Sara and Jordan are fun comedic actors. They do their best to inject little bits of fun into this predictable Hallmark romance, especially Sara. Jordan may not really fit the Chace character. He's too soft. Chace should be harder as a business man. Nevertheless, the two leads are fun actors and they do have some fun here. Also I like the pretty flowers. As for the garden, the obvious solution is there from the beginning and predictable for anyone with half a brain.

Typical Hallmark Movie That's "ok"...
razbarry-276696 September 2021
This is the typical "made for TV" Hallmark romantic movie that is watchable, but kind of cheesey in the sense that scenes & situations seem unlikely & unbelievable.

Part of that is bcuz, while there is not a lot of time to build up & carry out a storyline, this movie seemed 2 speed up the scenarios, to the point of being highly unlikely that it would happen so fast & so easy...hence, unbelieveable.

This is NOT the case for all their movies, sum are very good, but this one just seemed rushed & didn't make the viewer feel like this was just likely to happen...it felt like "just a movie".

The ending was especially "uncoordinated" in that the developer guy was talking to the urban gardener lady in the afternoon (mid afternoonish), then takes her to his office tower (still afternoon lighting in the lobby).

But when they get 2 the outside rooftop, it is night (dark) out (see buildings & sky in the background), then within a minute or 2, the buildings & especially the sky makes it look just it's just after dusk (or before sunrise).

I get it, "it's JUST a movie", but still the drastic lighting changes & mixed up order of the natural / sky lighting was REALLY noticeable & kind of ruined the scene imho.

Really wanted to like this movie
dtassell-2743118 April 2019
Really Love Sarah Rue. This movie is cute, but so many people in it are such poor actors it makes it hard to watch. Sarah and Jordan are good but just not together. They just don't have that much chemistry. I think Hallmark is trying to push out so many movies that they are more interested in quantity and not quality. :(

Best Hallmark movie I've seen!
ppetretich-17 April 2019
The solution to the garden problem seems so impossible that when the solution is revealed, it was an amazing surprise! The chemistry between the two stars was beautifully developed, this deserves a 10!

Another Hallmark Cliche
omijer7 April 2019
While the concept of a city garden is very appealing and noble, this movie exploited the idea in order to build a contrived romance around it. As a devoted Hallmark movie fan, this viewer was sorely disappointed in the predictable development of the plot. The leading man deserves tremendous credit and praise..He is a skilled actor..but then he does come from a long line of acting veterans..The Bridges family had given us some truly skilled stars. Jordan Bridges did his best with a formulaic, script and a leading lady who was too overpowering for this sensitive actor. The female lead did her best with the weak script, but, often, her thin voice interfered with the material she was given. She did her best in a role filled with lots of tears and anguish. The two older actors were almost cartoonish in their spats and rivalries, tomatoes versus peppers. One could have guessed how that relationship would evolve. This viewers wonders if Hallmark actually has a formula in place that requires each movie to have the 'interrupted first kiss', and the moment of a 'misunderstood hug' that leads to an unnecessary spat and separation. These formulaic and predictable parts of every Hallmark movie serve to trivialize any originality in the script..But perhaps this is what Hallmark viewers like about their movies. They are sweet stories, always end happily with a kiss, and always bring order to an otherwise chaotic world.

True love that never quite blooms enough
TheLittleSongbird5 May 2022
Was rather mixed on the overall standard of the 2019 Hallmark Spring Fever films. While really liking 'Love to the Rescue' (which was one of the best Hallmark films that year in my view), 'A Brush with Love' did nothing for me. The others ranged from average to pretty decent. While the premise is pretty typical, it can be very appealing when done well, and it was nice to not have Hallmark regulars in the lead roles once in a while.

'True Love Blooms' never really blooms properly unfortunately. It is not one of the worst 2019 Hallmark films (most of those being in the Countdown to Christmas block), but it is also not one of the best like 'Love to the Rescue'. As far as the Spring Fever films for the year goes, 'True Love Blooms' is around low middle, better than 'A Brush with Love' but on the same level as 'Flip that Romance' for relatively similar reasons (though that film is marginally better as the male lead is far superior).

It is not without its good things. The scenery and decor are absolutely beautiful. The flowers are truly pretty. The photography complements them very well indeed. The music at least fits and doesn't feel constant or too in your face. There are some very cute and light-hearted moments, some of the banter is fun.

Sara Rue is a very engaging lead, her charm effortless and her liveliness not affected. Most of the supporting cast do decently.

Jordan Bridges was a lot less appealing, actually didn't like him at all. He came over as too stiff, too dull and also very lacking in warmth, also found him too soft for his greedy businessman character early on. He and Rue have next to no chemistry together, too distant and indifferent and a not particularly good job is done developing the relationship, which was very undercooked and has practically nothing to it. Amy LoCierco is very annoying as a very cartoonish character, in a film where only Rue's character is likeable or worth engaging with.

Furthermore, the script is stilted and comes over as very cheesy, even when knowing what to expect. The story lacks energy (with the film taking a while to get going), has very little charm and heart, has a few too many unlikely situations and pretty much maps out exactly like one expects, especially in the contrived beyond belief final third. The prematurely obvious ending feels rushed and too pat.

Concluding, rather average but not without its strengths. 5/10.

Done too many times
Jackbv12330 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"We have to save our" (fill in the blank). We have to have a demonstration and a protest. Too bad it fails. But meanwhile I'll fall in love with the greedy businessman. I am so tired of this trope.

I have to admit the businessman was showing signs early on that he wasn't completely greedy. I want to say that Amy LoCicero as his girlfriend is the worst actress ever, but I suspect that was the way she was directed. Either way, she was too annoying to watch.

The solution was obvious. And there were several clues along the way to help figure it out.

I'd say the best way to watch this is to skip to right after the last commercial. Maybe just before that last commercial for the light bulb moment. Even that wasn't that outstanding.

It took me a couple of minutes to get into it, but the story and the two main characters grew on me steadily. The script feels natural and all the actors reflect that same naturalness.

Worth watching
jewelch4 February 2021
This should be a great movie but somehow it's missing something for me. It's the story of a woman who works at a nursery and volunteers at a community garden her dad started. She apparently has bad luck at relationships. The garden is in danger because a real estate developer has bought the land and wants to build condos. He's a really great guy but business is business. The movie should be good for a couple of reasons. It's set in Florida and appears to perhaps been filmed there. It has two really good actors who have nice chemistry. However, even though this movie is watchable, it seems like it falls just a little flat. One reason is because the plot seems a little outlandish. The timing doesn't seem quite right for the whole thing. Also, even though the characters are likable and good together, its seems a little clunky here and there, almost like the professional conflict doesn't mesh quite right with the personal affection that is developing between them. If you like Hallmark movies, this one seems fairly well-made, it's just missing a bit of a spark. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 2/4/2021

Beautiful movie
SunnyDaise22 May 2021
The issue of affordable home development v maintaining community is one many can relate but some gentle humour offsets the tension. There's a good age range of characters and the leads are fairly ageless so viewers won't grow out of it which is a danger in so many of the u35 romance movies HM produces. Also the the 'minimal' use of music fits well, proving that less is more - as Marta might say. Whilst some of the gardening scenes are a bit unrealistic timewise, it is defo a movie I'd watch again because despite the conflict it's very calming and inspiring.

Community v. Condos
rebekahrox9 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was very engaging due solely to the performances and personalities of the two leads, Sara Rue and Jordan Bridges. In addition to their talents, they had excellent chemistry together. Sara Rue is just a delight. And she has been a delight in everything I have seen her in. She radiates warmth and humor that seems to come not only from her acting, but from her real personality. She may be a real rhymes with witch for all I know, but if she is, she is a witch with a ton of charisma. Jordan Bridges is another favorite, and he was particularly good in this. The decision to give him a beard was genius. Somehow, it adds to his power and intimidating persona which makes it even more enjoyable to see Sara worm her way under his skin. As she slowly charms him out of his stubborn attitude, and he gives her a fresh perspective as well, they fall in love. And it is a pleasure to watch.

The story is all Hallmark. Vikki manages a community garden that Chace is buying in order to tear it down and make way for the condominium he is building. We see the conflict from both sides. They are both justified in their position so its a matter of finding a compromise, not one side seeing the light and changing their minds. Of course, the viewer sees the solution long before the two combatants do. When we note that there is 20 minutes to go and Chace heads to the roof of his office building to have a think after he and Vikki seem irretrievable at odds, we think "at last!" after mumbling "roof top garden, dummies," from the couch from the half hour mark on.

The well drawn secondary characters add to the likability of this movie, and keep the rather well-worn plot fresh and involving.

Despite Sara Rue, this falls flat.
rightisright8 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Sara Rue is fantastic, and should be doing more Hallmark movies. Just hire some new writers. Rizzoli and Isles Jordan Bridges plays the exact same type of character that he did five months ago in Christmas in Holly Lodge, a developer who changes his mind because of a hot lady. An amazing find is Amy LoCicero. She's absolutely stunning.

True Love Blooms
studioAT24 November 2021
Hallmark churn out these films at such a pace that perhaps it's only natural that the quality is variable.

When a very good one like this comes along though it's a joy.

There's a strong story being told here, the leads have good chemistry - those things alone separate the good from the great where these films are concerned.

Yes, you have to very much suspend your disbelief, but on the whole this was a very good Hallmark film.

Worst ever - Did Hallmark fire all the good writers?
fredmaier-3254813 April 2019
Juvenile at best. Couldn't get over 20 minutes into it. My wife and I look at each other after a few minutes and said "We can't do this". Community garden but all they grow is flowers. Chase Devine what a made up name and repeated over and over. Hire some new writers!

Worst Hallmark movie ever
ronbokirk7 April 2019
I have over 600 Hallmark movies in my collection (mostly DVR) and I can tell you this will not be one of them. Character development is slow or absent, Directing seems to be absent. Acting is fine, but the story is without a doubt the worst in Hallmark movie history. Romance is absent until the last 3 minutes of the movie. The best part is now that we have seen their worst it can only get better next time.

The Landscape is Worth a View
waltonmktg14 April 2019
As with many in this genre, we meet our protagonists early and then chart their individual and, hopefully, cooperative courses. It is always fun to find the crossroads. This one meets the criteria happily.

I so wanted t like this... but DANG
boblasher-767-4460336 August 2022
I really, really like the two leads and have been a fan of theirs for many years. I realize that they need to work and earn money, but for me, this ii a new low for the Hallmark movie mill. The plot is so hackneyed and script is so ridiculous that they lost me in only a matter of minutes. Many of the characters are so over-the-top that I hope the director and writer find new lines of work.

On the other hand, it's SO bad it's almost a parody of the typical Hallmark movie. In fact, I think, with only a few tweaks, it could be turned into a legitimate comedy spoofing the Hallmark genre. Yes, I truly believe it is THAT bad. I'm sappy and love romance and happy endings, so when a movie loses me in minutes, it HAS to be bad.

My new favorite Hallmark Movie
ladymustang-121609 April 2019
I was so surprised to see so many half-hearted or outright negative reviews of this movie, as I absolutely loved it. This is a Hallmark movie after all, so there are some givens, and if you watch Hallmark movies, you know to expect them (interrupted first kiss, misunderstanding with 20 minutes to go, etc.) and just go with it. But the writer managed to make the Hallmark formula seem fresh and new. Yes, Chace is a developer who wants to tear down the garden. But he's not the usual hard-hearted corporate type who needs to be shown the light by the lady. He's a good guy with good intentions who believes in what he's doing and is helping a lot of people with his work. She gets to see that, even though it conflicts with what she wants. The dialogue was witty and fun, and the two leads had great chemistry producing some of the sultriest (in a Hallmark kind of way) moments ever in Hallmark history. This pairing is so natural together and work so well that I would love to see more of them, whether it be a sequel to this movie or just another movie where they work together. And going by the comments being made during the live tweet of the premiere, I'm not the only one who felt that way. This is my new favorite Hallmark Movie. I've already watched it twice and will be keeping it on my dvr until it comes out on dvd where it will promptly join my Hallmark collection. This movie is definitely a keeper. Just a really wonderful movie.

Absolutely delightful!
lauraly-8158221 May 2022
Don't listen to the one star reviews. This is one of the best hallmark movies I have seen in a long time! Sara Rue is a breath of fresh air. She is so like able and her acting is better than a lot of other hallmark actresses. The two leads had amazing chemistry and I loved their witty banter. This is sweet and heartfelt and I cried many times while watching. I highly recommend this one!
