Buddy is a sore loser!

The show started good. 2 of the best in their business being confident and of course competitive. Buddy won the 1st round and Duff took the loss like a good sport and used it as motivation for the next round. In the 2nd round, Buddy and Ralph made a huge cartoonishly themed cake. Duff made a smaller cake, but the amount of detail was incredible. In the end Duff won the 2nd round. There were lots of mistakes with both cakes and yes, Duff's hydraulics didn't work and his cake was much smaller. But... Buddy's cake was I think, too cartoonish for a Car guy who is turning 50. Duff's cake was more for a grownup. Buddy always seemed to be arrogant, but once he lost and shrugged off Duff's hand from his shoulder I knew he was going to throw a fit. The Buddy said "time out", and walked off to talk (pace back and forth in the background, clearly yelling at the producers) with the producers. Buddy's cake was bigger, but clearly bigger is not always better. The details are what gets the prize in my opinion. I just wish Buddy didn't throw a fit like a spoiled kid. I used to like Buddy and even have my kids watch his shows, but after seeing the way he acted I will no longer support him in anyway.

Staged Show

This was obviously a totally scripted/staged series. I even think that Buddy's & Duff's reactions were scripted to cause drama. I enjoyed seeing the works of Buddy & Duff, but felt that the judges always leaned towards Duff, even when they picked Buddy's (scores were always done to keep them close). Duff's "cakes" hardly had any actual cake in them. Both are clearly talented, but felt this was a big set-up for Duff's new show. And no one ever tasted the cakes!! Would've been better if the judges were impartial, no scripting & these 2 guys allowed to really compete.

Too mean spirited

I was glad to see them add more judges. I don't agree with people ripping up Buddy. He has an ego like any other chef I've seen on Food Network and Duff's is just as big! To see Duff win the whole challenge was heart breaking to me and I really do think it was biased. Which is a shame. I would really like to see Food Network have fairer judging and friendlier competitions in all of their shows.

Buddy needs a time out!!

What a disappointment to see Buddy's reaction at the end of the show it was a BIG turn off. He needs to have the business end of a wooden spoon, what a role model for his children. How NOT to act when you're not the winner. Suck it up buttercup!! Don't know if we'll watch it again.

Arrogance and humility tested

As usual you have Buddy and his overwhelming arrogance. It gets old and turns you off. He showed his attitude by walking out and complaining when he lost. He is a sore loser though he states he's not one. Duff on the other hand took things in stride and showed that though he has some arrogance in his work he is quite humble. He took his loss in stride, showed he was disappointed but no tantrums just a strong desire to overcome and do better. If this was just buddy I wouldn't watch. Love Duff showingvwhat a good sport is.

Credibility

Buddy's tantrum was hilarious!!! He's so used to getting his way, but everyone needs a little humility to round out one's character. I'll probably keep watching just to see if Buddy starts to take second place a little more graciously. 🙂 Besides... it's only an option. I question the credibility of the judges. ! I wouldn't even take it that seriously if I were him. Just do it for the fun of it!

Season 3 is enjoyable

I did not watch the previous two seasons but I saw what all the one star reviews are about, Buddy being a sore loser in season 1, but the fact of the matter is Buddy's cakes ARE better lol.

Season 3 is enjoyable to watch, very cool cakes and cool to see how they are made, the nostalgia from Buddy is awesome. Theres a few 'reality tv tropes' like creating dramatic moments just for the show like stuff falling over or editing in fake noises when cakes are transported. The judging isn't worth complaining about because it is clearly scripted as all reality tv shows are, you shouldn't watch this show for the competition you should watch it for the pastry chefs and unique cakes. Something that bothers me is how at the end And beginning of the episode they show what topic and the cakes for the next episode, basically spoiling the final look of the cake but I've realized the show is more worth to watch for the process and ingenuity than anything else.

Biased. Disappointing.

Used to love Buddy and watch nearly every episode. Since his climb to fame he lost his humbleness and respect for his work and fellow bakers. When someone doesn't agree with him he throws a fit and has shown to be very unprofessional. The judging is a joke as each is only 1 point shy/higher than the other in every battle. Also, after Buddy's display of being a sore loser, it seems unfair (even though we as viewers cannot physically taste the food). Through watching, I have gained more respect for Duff and his skill and his eye to detail. He has also shown great sportsmanship and professionalism. Bigger is not always better.

Buddy well light years ahead of Duffy

Buddy He does not like to lose, but that does not mean he's not the best. And he really is the best. He makes real cake since the Duff uses more props to stay real cake. Duffy's cakes look like a 10-year-old. This program pure armação. Buddy 1000 x Best. can not even compare.

Jumped the shark before the first episode was over.

I saw the first episode. They had to bake a car shaped cake for someone's birthday. I like Duff, but his car looked like it would have been a loser-mobile in any other cake show. Even if it was in the kids baking championship. Buddy's car was quite a spectacular cake sculpture despite what the idiotic judge thought. She, who has the IQ of a clam, picked it apart with her stupid pointless complaints. I was thinking this might be a nice show to watch, but if this is how it's going to continue to be, then forget it. Maybe it was all staged drama. That's possible. If so, then that's even worse. Was Buddy's action at the end real or fake? I'll watch it again, and I just hope they don't repeat this stupidness.

Judging is a joke

I'm so disappointed in this new series by Food Network. I've lost all respect for Buddy and I feel like Duff just keeps getting screwed. It's obvious how much better Duffs cakes are decorated, Buddys cakes look like they belong at my 10 year olds bday party. The second episode was given to Buddy and it was obvious. Apparently his temper tantrum in the first episode is paying off. What a joke. I wont be watching any longer.

I feel Buddy definitely deserved the win for both competitions on the first show. Duff's car was cool but the hydraulics didn't work and all of Buddy's extras as far as lights, etc. worked, he should have won. It should have been based on the entire cake.

I was really excited to watch this show. Now I just want it to be done. Buddy and his big mouth is a huge turn off. Whether Duff wins or not, he's still a winner to me. A class act.

The second show is not over, I don't know who won. I've realized I don't like Buddy, no matter who wins what. He is mean spirited. What a terrible idea this show is. How about average people judge, not one or two chefs. I did not tune in, someone else turned it on. What a waste, bad idea.

Are Producers Afraid of Buddy?

This is still an enjoyable show but Buddy's behavior is hard to take, even well into season 3. It seems everyone is afraid Buddy will throw a tantrum, especially members of his own team. He always makes digs about Duff and no one stands up to him. At every judging, Buddy will imply that Team Duff somehow cheated or lied. Are the producers afraid he'll walk if someone tells him he is acting like a spoiled brat?

My favorite episode was when Buddy and Duff were both banned from the kitchens and only their teams competed. Everyone was friendly and respectful. Both teams by the way have amazing pastry chefs and artists and I enjoy watching them create.

I strongly feel that Duff is the better artist and I think Buddy feels threatened by his younger and much more chill rival.

Ranking due to Duff

I adore Duff and that is the reason I give this program a 7; the enjoyment of watching his creativity and his personality. He is such a joy to watch. He is amazingly talented. As for Buddy; he is talented as well. However he is immature, lacks the courtesy to show respect to his competitor for their win and that lack of maturity shows in his tantrums. Duff loses, he disagrees with the loss, takes it in stride and moves on to the next challenge. At the end of the first episode, watching Buddy's antics deter from Duff's victory angered me. Act your age of 42 and act like the professional you claim to be. The judges are questionable in their decisions. I hope they get their heads straight. I will watch this till the end because I want to see Duff win. Team Duff!

Poor Sport

If anyone clearly listened to the judge she was judging on the degree of difficulty, including taste and look. If she went off of taste then Duff would have won the first round, listening to her comments. The judge considered all elements in the second round which swayed the decision more to Duff. Buddy clearly set the tone for the rest of the show. I am on the fence as to whether I will continue the show. I have no desire in watching a grown man with children being a role model of "Poor Sport." His cake car mirrored his child like actions. He was making a car for a grown man. Time for him to act like one.

I enjoyed this show! I started watching because I love the kids baking championship and Duff is a judge on the show. LOVE HIM! I've always liked the Cake Boss so I thought it would be interesting to watch these two. Despite the negative comments about Buddy, there is no doubt the man is a master with cakes and it was amazing to watch. Duff is so innovative and creative, it was also a treat to see his unique ideas come to life!

I don't trust the judges at all. Buddy throws a huge fit and all of sudden there is an extra judge. Buddy acts like an overindulged brat at every step. I am no longer watching & no longer care about the end result. #teamduff

I am enjoying the actual competition, however, Buddy is arrogant, cocky and a sore loser. Buddy, on the other hand, is a joy to watch.

I am disapointed in Buddy. I have been a big fan of Cake Boss and this show is really showing Buddys arrogant side. He is acting like a spoiled rotten child who doesnt think he should lose. I have never really watched Ace Of Cakes and dont know Duff well. But I think this competition will be turning a new leaf for me. I love Duffs heart and passion for his art. I can respect that. Buddy is just self absorbed. Im a cake artist too and I like to be modest about my work. If it sucks, I own up to it. I do like Ralph though!!! Keep up your good work Ralph! :)
