The motivations are becoming clear.
Sleepin_Dragon20 September 2020
Doctor Hanover hides a guilty secret, he's come to respect Nurse Ratched, and possibly sees her as an ally, he confides in her, explaining the reason why there's a price on his head.

It's definitely getting darker, this episode took it up a notch, both in the horror, and gore department.

Each episode tells us a little more about Ratched, what makes her tick, and why she's so driven.

There are some horrendous treatments being displayed here, hydrotherapy, a cruel, and barbaric procedure, sadly a technique that was used.

The AHS influence is visible, but that's no bad thing. Well into this, 8/10.

Needs more Kesey and less Murphy
TheFearmakers23 September 2020
Ryan Murphy makes pretty cool thrillers but he goes overboard with sex to where it seems like a poor man's "Skinemax" serialized and made homoerotic and intentionally overblown to the point of farce.

If anyone hasn't read the book One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey you should, because it's dark and intense and suspenseful and replete with true, genuine darkness of the psych ward corridors: as was the movie, to a point, despite being more or less a mainstream cult-exploitation flick.

Ryan Murphy's productions always balance in extremities, and this is starting to lose its balance... but... it's still pretty decent, and keeps you wanting more. That is the point, isn't it?

*audible reaction*

The absolute wildest episode so far, can I just write "wow". The storyline is morbidly captivating, like a train wreck. The cinematography and costuming are stunningly beautiful.

SHE'S NEVER GOING TO REST UNTIL SHE FINDS ME!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Oh I like the beginning here. Osgood, Sharon Stone, has a vendetta vs Dr. Hanover and she's going to send her man to get him. I like that. Because I haven't been impressed really by Hanover or Ratchet so far at all.

They also stole the music from another show too, for the opening. I can't remember what it is from now

Oh and Dr. Hanover has installed new treatment options in the basement! Hanover instructs Nurse Bucket to take charge of this hydrotherapy treatment. aND so the patient gets a hot water bath followed by a ice bath to zap the fabulous right out of her.

And then Mrs. Briggs, meets with the Gov. The Gov really likes Nurse Ratchet's 'caboose'. Haha, the Governor makes a point of saying that he's not going to go lightly on a guy that killed 4 Catholic Priests. This viewpoint is obviously going to make Ratchet's and Briggs job harder since they are actively campaigning for Edmund Tolleson's release.

Nurse Dolly, brings Edmund his food down in the basement which seems a complete knockoff of Hannibal Lecter's cell from Silence of the Lambs. And Edmund, he asks Nurse Dolly to help him with some RELEASE....FROM this erection that he's had for the past 3 days. Nurse DOLLY well she HELPS HIM WITH THIS MAJOR PROBLEM.

+1 Star for Nurse Dolly being one seriously helpful NURSE!!! LOL then she calls the security guard a pervert for watching her while she did it.

Dr. Hanover now gets shot at in his car while filling up for gas. But he manages to escape. Osgoods hitman is certainly not very professional. He messed up.

So Nurse Ratched, she invites over her manly neighbor at the motel Ratched apparently loves to roleplay some experiences from her past with patients she dealt with during the war.

Oh dear... Osgood's son's episode with Dr. Hanover was bloody and sick!!! Oh man that was entertaining!!!

+1 Star for Osgood's SON and his OPERATION WITH DR. HANOVER!!!

Dr. Hanover knows that Mrs. Osgood will never rest until she finds Hanover and makes him pay for her son's condition. And Nurse Ratched, she thinks she knows how they can accomplish this, TOGETHER!!!!

And just when I thought I was beginning to like Ratched...
maxglen19 September 2020
This episode was just so gratuitous. I don't mind gore or sex in shows but it has to serve a purpose, here it just felt so shoehorned in at every turn. It also doesn't help that the writing was particularly bad this episode. The stuff with the baths was interesting if a little uncomfortable but the rest was simply poor. It feels like it's turning into a rubbish season of American Horror Story and I just can't get behind that, especially when the source material it's based on dealt with it's more graphic content so much better. 5/10

Rubbish with a capital F
willlem22 September 2020
I was sitting on the fence after the first two episodes but this third episode convinced me to switch off this trash TV. How anyone can sit and watch this rubbish is beyond me. I was expecting a cleverly crafted, witty story (a la one flew over the cuckoo's nest) but instead got this vapid nonsense. If gory horror stories are your scene, then this is for you.
