A much better finale then you would expect
fabiogaucho28 April 2019
Someone said you this episode makes the audience shocked and morally confused. That's true, but I also think that is the point. The bad blood accumulated among students of the two dojos, combined with the truly dangerous skills they acquired, was a recipe for bad things to happen. After a long timing training, the kids end up applying karate to personal feuds, romantic jealousy and settling of scores. Even with the most Myagi-like lessons, that will tend to lead to grave outcomes when all the tensions that escalated through the season climax in a chaotic confrontation between teens that don't know when to stop, are not aware of their own strenght, don't know how to use their skills responsibly, and control their emotions.

Both Johnny and Daniel will have to live now with the consequences of their actions. Unfortunately, that is a recipe for a season 3 that starts slowly, as people will need to find a new relationship with karate before going back to training. I hope they will pull it off, because after the awesome climax and all the cliffhangers, there will be protests outside youtube if there is no season 3.

Blown away

Warning: Spoilers
I understand that the school fight wasn't very "realistic", but then again actual Karate dojo's don't have rivalries to this extent. But I've never gone through so many emotions in a single episode. I didn't expect Kreese to return, and it genuinely left me angry. Can't wait to see what happens next season.

Can't Wait For Season 3!!
trevor_ferevor242 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This series is one of the best continuations of a movie or TV series ever! The continuity is genius! They bring back all the old music and leaves you feeling very nostalgic! It is so amazing that every old character from the original Karate Kid cast all came back for this! The season finale hints at Ali coming back into the fold and if Elizabeth Shue is in season 3 I will lose my mind! Well Done!

Great season finale
charlie_morales24 April 2019
Characters face off with their inner demons, they make choices about what kind of person they want to be. This season focuses a lot in teen drama but at the end you understand that Miguel and Robby are reflections of our main characters Johnny and Daniel.

No Mercy.

A fitting title to an epic battle. This one 30 something minute episode had a resolution to everything that had preceded it. It blew my mind. Out of nowhere, a battle emerges in the most stunning showing of choreographed fight scenes in recent memory. It was gripping and thrilling throughout, and tragedy was bound to happen, and it happened to the most beloved character yet.

I am so glad i found this show. This episode was worth binging the 5 hours straight up.

Its not everyday one is pleasantly surprised by the writing of a show and has his expectations outdone. This is one of them.

Season 3 will have a hard time outdoing this, but I am waiting patiently.

Cinematic chaos

So many things going on in this episode it was cinematic chaos, and I'm here for it. An epicly choreographed fight scene, emotional scenes, and way too many cliffhangers. Awesome.

A great finale
bernardostark18 May 2019
This episode had everything a good finale needs to be great. It had action, good dialogues, great development of the characters and the relationship between them. It's also a perfect setup for season 3, and i hope it comes soon.

Pure chaotic insanity!!

Holy moly.. what an explosive finale that turned out to be so much bigger and crazier than I deres dreaming as well as rounding up the season in perfect fashion!

This episode sees all the conflict that was build up EXPLODE in an epic clash between Miyagi DO and Cobra Kai at school as they all try to settle the beef they had wirh each other!

They fight was excellent! Amazing choeography and camerawork! Editing is great as well! Lots of long takes that makes it feel like one big organic fight with characters fighting simoutaniously!

The conclusion was shocking proving that the show is not affraid to go all out!

Johnny's arc as the tragic person who just wants do the right thing, but is held back by who he once was and all the bad Luck, is perfect! He takes all the fault and guilt! He becomes a realistic person with realistic flaws!

Overall an incredible finale to a great season! The characterwork on Johnny is the best part of it all and William is just amazing in the role!

Very good, one mild worry
whatch-1793123 December 2020
This show continues to be great beyond reason. This production sets the gold standard in properly treating an old property.

That said, the war flat out war between Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do was rather excessive. We knew the war was coming, but I mean it went on way too long.

Aside from that, it's thoroughly amazing how high this episode raises the stakes.

Funny rather than Epic
jacobbrinkhoff30 October 2020
I always find the fight scenes, other than with Daniel and Johnny, kinda lame. I thought this one took it to the next level and I found myself laughing through most of it. The character development was good but when the central theme of a show is martial arts actual fighting should be better done

What was that ridiculously unreal fight scene all about? Good god that was cringe. I don't even think high school and college aged kids would enjoy that. I got to say my favorite character is Johnny and I want him to succeed. Overall the show is an 8 at best. The scenes and story with Johnny is the best part.

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show don't get me wrong but I did NOT see this finale coming... that whole action sequence in the school is the product of a whole lotta buildup and it is immensely satisfying. We get a fight that's been 36 years in the making which was thrilling. A heartbreaking ending and a HUGE tease for next season. Honestly this is one of the best season finales to a show I've ever seen. Gotta give a 10/10

Cobra Kai (4 out of 5 stars). Episode 2.10

This season finale ended with a bigger conflict than the last. Even after the last few episodes with characters like Daniel LaRusso and Johnny finally settling there differences. With LaRusso finally having the respect with Robby. And Johnny having a one on one talk with Miguel about honor.

The episode takes place on the first day of School. After a wild party leaving LaRusso restricting his daughter Samantha. And the love triangle with Samantha and Robby and Miguel. The episode conflict escalates very fast when Samantha arch enemy Tory calls her out in school. And the two brawl in the hallways. The Cobra Kai group fighting with LaRusso's dojo group.

A big conflict that does leave in a cliffhangar. Johnny questions his Cobra Kai group for being dishonorable. Miguel facing against Robbie. Tori against Samantha. A lot is going on in this episode with an overlong hallway fight scene. It was pretty exciting to see how the season was going to wrap up. The overlong fight scene does get cheesy. Where are all the security and teachers at to stop the fight?

Overall, Episode 10 was a good episode. It was a lot of fun to see the drama heat up more with the characters. Even after everything was settling down. This second season over all has been a fun ride.

Rarely a show would make me want more and this is one of them. The second season finale was engaging and gripping, so much so that I was blown away by the level of its execution. And this finale leaves so many open questions about what's gonna happen next. Cannot wait for the next season!

I think this episode was everything I wanted it to be cause I didn't like the ending of season 1 where they made Miguel the bad guy but the ending of season 2 makes much more sense and feels complete yet with many open ended story lines left. I feel excited for the next season.

Bigger turd? Kreese or Dimitri?
Steve_Holt_31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
All-in-all, one of the best shows I've watched in a LONG time. Enjoyment levels are through the roof!

However,....

Two great seasons, each with a finale that made some serious mistakes. (Season 1 finale was a lot better, though).

Most of this show is taken up with the John Woo fight scene that goes on long enough to use the bathroom and not miss anything by the time you come back. Over all it was fun, but it did get to feel a little silly for going on so long.

My biggest issue: Dimitri. What the heck!?!?

This was easily the dumbest thing the show has done so far. I don't mean the corniest or cheesiest, because the show has a lot of those moments that are actually great and a lot of the fun of the show, but the Dimitri moment in the fight was just plain dumb and painful to watch. It would be one thing if his muscle memory/reflexes kicked in and he surprised Hawk with a block and counter...this would have been cool...but for him to take out Hawk, yes, a guy who has trouble standing up straight and confessed his own imbalance issues due to his gangly limbs, takes out one of the best karate practitioners in the Valley. Keep in mind Hawk was in the finals and wasn't defeated, only disqualified. So apparently, according to this episode, Dimitri is now a Finals-level expert. Perhaps in the season 3 premiere we can watch him kick the stuffing out of Xander just for good measure.

And more on Dimitri. It seems he's supposed to be some sort of sympathetic hero that the audience should root for. Maybe the writers don't realize what a piece of sh** they actually created. Right from the beginning all he ever did was offer negativity. He was sort of an emotional bully. Miguel and Hawk wanted to improve themselves and all Dimitri did is discourage them. Then when they actually did improve themselves, he criticized it. He tried to join Cobra Kai and left, continuing to tear down what they were doing. He is not a friend to either of them, he's a leech who hopes that they will do all the work so he can benefit from their success. In this season, yes, he was roughed up by Kreese, but his response was to do what he always does: condescend to everyone and try to posture himself as better than everybody else. I'm sure by the time Hawk confronted Dimitri at the comic shop he was sick and tired of his derision and pompous negativity. I'm not saying that they should have attacked him, but I do feel like he earned an a@@-whupping by that point. The rivalry goes on and culminates with Dimitri proving himself to be one of the best karate students in the valley, in spite of no build up in the show to make this credible in any way shape or form.

As much as I love this show, I feel like someone near the top of the creativity ladder doesn't understand proper behavior. It almost feels like the show creators want to go one way, and then the PC, money conscious producers come in and insist some of these feel good dweebs be made to be the heroes just so they can get Nabisco to do a product placement. If you want to make Dimitri sympathetic, let him admit he hasn't been a supportive friend, (at any point) admit he's scared, apologize for the way he's acted, and then take away his super-powers. Apparently he's the son of Taskmaster from Black Widow.

Daniel and Johnny at his apartment.

Daniel seems like he's just looking for an excuse to be mad at Johnny. He needs to lighten up. His pride is his downfall and he's essentially the reason for all the problems in the show. I am sympathetic to his wanting to get in and see his daughter (that's a tough situation) but it's still just more of Daniel the douche. Plus, he needs to look in a mirror. Daniel let Johnny's son live with him, and after putting thought to it, not just by happenstance, he decided he knew better than anyone else, and CHOSE not to let Johnny know what was going on with his son. So it seems awfully hypocritical to be kicking his way in to Johnny's apartment when Johnny was actually being pretty cool about the whole thing. Maybe not perfect, but at least being cool.

I'll repeat myself here a bit from another review, but I hate the way they introduced and developed this great interesting character, Hawk, only to turn him into a one-dimensional villain. Now that he's going to be with Kreese it seems they're doubling down on it, but I hope they do something to redeem his arch, it's been one of the better ones. He;s a kid who's been picked on and humiliated for a long time, and now he has power in his life. And he's only 16! This would be confusing and difficult for anyone that age. Making him one-dimensional is an unfortunate way to go with him, but it seems he's just going to become a tool for positioning John Kreese throughout season 3. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Overall, season 2 is yet more of a great show, but it does come down a step from season one, and I'd say it's mostly because they aren't using the kids well enough. Season 1 was about this collective of nerds and rejects who were learning to be more. Season 2 is about how those same kids are basically a bunch of partying bullies who make life tough for the poor pretty kids of Miyagi-Do. The characters aren't as complex this season and it brings the show down a notch.

Still. I'm definitely looking forward to watching season 3!

Where the hell are the teachers?!
giovannipic14 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a schoolteacher myself, this episode seriously annoyed the hell out of me! Are we supposed to believe that the school staff would just wash their hands off kids beating and potentially killing each other on campus? Have the writers ever heard of the concept of "duty of care"? The teachers and principal would be the first to pay the price, in legal terms, for the whole thing.

Great series ruined by lazy writing.

Most amazing season finale of any show ever!!!!!
soldierdan-743311 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yep you heard me right. The amount of mayhem and insanity in this episode is just awesome. This tops anything else, including the all the GOT finales. The producers coordinated this episode perfectly, with all the action and dialogue. It has the amount of comedy and drama that perfectly balance each other out. Near the end, when Miguel shows mercy on Robby, it shows that he hasn't been completely brainwashed my Kreese's brutality. And although I personally like Miguel and dislike Robby, this ending was better than any victory he could've gotten. Tory and Samantha's fight was also one of the best hand to hand combat scenes ever. Tensions had been rising for the whole season, and when the two girls finally snapped, it was awesome. My only small gripe was the fact that Hawk went down so easy to Demetri. He could've at least landed a few good blows on him. But all in all, this episode was AMAZING, and I would recommend it to anyone.
