Another gem.

The BBC are finally starting to give us some great comedy. Back to life follows in the footsteps of Fleabag, a bittersweet dramedy, very serious but with light moments.

Daisy Haggard is delightful as Miree, a woman out of prison intent on rebuilding her life. I totally enjoyed her performance and the way she told Miree's story. I love how her parents have obviously tried to stay together to make life easier for her, Geraldine James is terrific.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. 8/10

Warning: Spoilers
There have been a lot of great English comedies the last 10 years, but I don't know if I can call this one of them right off the bat.

Daisy Haggard can do comedy well as you know if you have seen Episodes or Uncle, but in a lead role in a pretty generic plot, she didn't stand out. Nothing about the script stood out to me really.

Well it is darkly comic or should I just say bleak.

If it has some beats that remind you of Fleabag, it is because they have the same producers.

Daisy Haggard plays Miri Matteson. She also co-wrote the series.

Miri is in her 40s and needs to rebuild her life after a 18 year stretch in prison.

She has returned to her parents home in a sleepy coastal town. There might have been the internet before she went in but smartphone technology has been a quantum leap. Other people have moved on such as her ex boyfriend, now married with children. He also is rather to close with Miri's mother.

This is a fish out of water dramedy. Miri has to rebuild her life and bounce back as some people will not let her forget what she did.

Of course going by the first episode you see the basic set up. Miri feels awkward being out. It is also strange for her parents, although we see that her mother is having an affair.

If this was a drama, I think I would be more positive about it.
