Very Good plot

Warning: Spoilers
Great setting in the 50's, particularly the creative and thoughtful way to address some of the intolerance and ignorance from that era. I very much liked the natural and subtle of the moments that pointed that 50's racism out: the restrooms in the the restaurant and the dialogue with Daisy that led to it; the captive who kept using racial slurs with everyone until they sent Deke(that was hilarious); i'm black but i was asking myself with Deke why would they send him(din't realize they were all not white except Deke)! Or the History reminder about women pilots in 40's and 50's with May and Yoyo. None of those moments felt forced like that subject often does in most of today's shows. This was a breath of fresh air. Thank you.

Haven't watch the ep yet, but I love how the other guy that gave it a 4, also gave LOTR 2!!!! and Logan 1! but he gave BvS 5 lmao. You KNOW he's a good reviewer then.

Edit: Watched the episode and it was good as the others. But I feel like they move too quickly between each era and they just wrap everything in one episode feels kinda rushed I guess? But I love these time jump so it's not a big deal.

One of the best

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes from the whole series. It got it with the appearance of Agent Sousa from Agent Carter. It is a shame that they waited that much to show their abilities on quality, now that the series are about to end. Well, at least they did it. Better now from never.

Good job Agents :)

Just a blast!

This episode was a blast! I am loving the tone of the show this season, fun and upbeat while still distinctly AoS and still giving the characters their dues in growth. There were quite few hilarious scenes this episode, particularly the end tag scene, and I loved how seemless the Agent Carter connection felt, I'm so happy to see Daniel back on my screen! I will say I have seen some people split up on the " addressing the racism" issue, AoS has always been a show where characters can be just characters and race doesn't come into it often, so it could be jarring they have to address it now, but can you imagine being back in the past with your modern sensibilities? these things have to come up! and I'm glad the show can have fun with it and be breezy with the whole thing, I feel they found a good balance of addressing it but not making it too central to the story...if that kind of thing bothers you on principle, it will, what can I tell you! but to me it's only annoying if it turns into another show for an episode to preach and it didn't, so it's cool, that white privilege joke was hilarious too!

What is wrong with reviewers these days?
UrAverageMovieCritic14 June 2020
Seriously. I literally don't understand how any person could interpret this episode as some sort of "leftist propaganda" aimed to "brainwash" viewers.

Why does everything have to be politicized when it's clearly not?? Jeeeez.

And there's another cranky fool who calls this episode "communist indoctrination", LMFAOOO!

Yeah, I'm going to declare "troll" on this one.

Anyways, this is unquestionably a pretty dam good and 'lit' episode. At the time I'm writing this, everyone's still all waiting for Ep04, but there's no doubt that it'll end up being one of the most memorable episodes of this season. There's just so much awesome scenes and plenty of pop-cultural references packed into this episode.

Thoroughly Enjoyable Episode!

Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't sure what to expect from season 7 as I really found season 6 to be a train wreck, but I am finding it surprisingly entertaining. AoS has always been a pretty great show to me, but now they added my favorite subject- time travel. I'm loving these time jumps and seeing the cast in different eras. Everything from their costumes to the people they run across has been fun to watch.

  • Daniel Sousa. I love this man. I honestly hope he makes more appearances. The exchange between him and Fake Carter was hilarious to watch.
  • The scene where Coulson and Simmons were "interviewing" the scientists will forever be one of my favorites. I never knew Simmons had those facial expressions but I wish that Jemma would be shown more often.
  • Why was Yo-Yo still able to operate her robotic arms when the EMP went off?
  • May is becoming more like her old self, thank goodness. I almost thought that perhaps she had come back without her soul, which could be an explanation for her lack of emotion or compassion. That could have been the team's next mission, after destroying the Chronicoms. Perhaps she really did just need sleep after all.
  • Are we destined to watch this final season without Fitz? That would be a travesty. He's one of my favorite characters.
  • Daisy and her piano keys teeth again alternate between super annoying and kick-ass agent.
  • Deke is maturing, which is nice to see. Perhaps there is a chance for him and Daisy after all.
  • I'm still holding out hope they can make LMD Coulson real. With a soul. Maybe in the same place they will find one for May. Someone should search Amazon.
  • Is Chronicom lady Jessie Graf from American Ninja Warrior? She's badass.

I love this season. I refuse to read anything about the show because I despise spoilers, but I'm hoping this final season is at least a full 22 episodes. I don't want it to end at all. I am usually one who completely hates change, and AoS post season 5 has underwent a complete overhaul, but this season took a huge risk and it paid off, in my opinion. Great job, writers!

Optimum script. All scenes follow without a pause and all absolutely needed by the storyline. Good playing. Perfect balancing between action and colloquial time.

The show I love to see.

From "Peggy Carter" to area 51: such a great episode
FairyGodBro7 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Aliens Commies from the Future!" from Season 7 of *Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D.* brilliantly captures the essence of the show's final season, blending a mix of nostalgia, humor, and thrilling narrative twists. This episode, set against the backdrop of the 1950s, not only delves into the Cold War paranoia but also cleverly incorporates classic sci-fi elements that resonate with fans of the genre.

One of the episode's most delightful surprises is Agent Gemma Simmons impersonating none other than Peggy Carter, her hero. This playful nod to one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most admired characters adds a layer of excitement and homage that enriches the story. Simmons' portrayal is spot-on, providing fans with both a tribute to the beloved Agent Carter and a showcase of Simmons' versatility and cunning as she navigates the tense atmosphere of Area 51.

The reintroduction of Agent Daniel Sousa from *Agent Carter* is another highlight, bridging two Marvel series in a seamless and emotionally satisfying way. Sousa's presence brings a nostalgic thrill to the episode, and his integration into the team feels both natural and exciting, providing a fresh dynamic while honoring his character's roots.

The 1950s setting allows for an authentic exploration of the era's cultural and cinematic influences, with direct references to the period's film noir and B-movie sci-fi aesthetics. These elements are not only fun and engaging but also serve as a clever meta-commentary on the era's characteristic mix of innovation and suspicion.

Visually, the episode dazzles with its period-accurate costumes and stylized cinematography, enhancing the nostalgic feel while maintaining the high-energy action that *Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D.* is known for. The episode is a visual treat, echoing the dramatic flair and tension of 1950s cinema, which complements the story's thematic depth and character development beautifully.

Overall, "Aliens Commies from the Future!" is a thrilling, fun, and nostalgically rich episode that stands out in the final season of *Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D.* It's a testament to the show's ability to blend different genres and historical eras into its narrative, making it a memorable and enjoyable experience for fans across the board.

Episode 703
bobcobb30127 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
More of the same from this very bizarre seventh season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD that just has no game plan and just thinks bad jokes about time travel and a couple interesting costume designs is enough to entertain even its most loyal hardcore viewers.

I don't care about the politics of the writers, actors or the network. I just want good television and so far we are not getting that.

The cast all being confined together and working together is a mistake. Part of the appeal of past seasons was that separation and different missions from different mindsets. Maybe getting them all out of the same room will make things better.

That's a wrap
trcky113 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The beginning and middle seasons were the best. Time travel into the future was kind of okay, but it got away from the core of the show, and now it's gone off the rails. Usually I'm ok with shows taking different directions, but the writing is completely different now. Plot holes and cliche tropes abound. I mean, humans fighting robots hand to hand and winning/not getting killed? Has anyone ever seen the Boston Dynamics YouTube videos of CURRENT robots irl doing backflips?!?! The only powered agent uses their powers ONCE when fighting deadly sentient robots and decides to engage them hand to hand for the rest of the fights.

There's way less suspense and thrills written into the show this season, and way more time spent on just filler, not even meaningful character development. Seriously, wasted time filler poke the train ride in episode 2 where literally NOTHING HAPPENS.

I'm guessing this lack of story is due to COVID-19 absolutely eradicating the time for writing, and they just went straight to filming. "Ok guys, so you've probably noticed you didn't get scripts? Yeah, neither did the production crew. We're gonna try something new this season, you guys are gonna ad lib your lines and we'll do the same with the story. Alright, go team!"

Gonna take a break from the series for a bit. IMDb peeps, lemme know when some coherent writing comes back. In the meantime, see y'all at Rick and Morty's.
