Amazing in it's truth!

A story we see all too often beautifully told and well acted. I hope to see it considered during award season.

Felt more like a commercial, sorry

Warning: Spoilers
Nice message overall about community coming together but I have a few issues with it.

One, the diversity in the one section of town was crazy diverse but where were the Hispanics or Latinos?

Two, why is it the white guy that folks assume has a problem with the lead immigrant turns out to be the savior for the family? I heard someone say Hollywood loves to have the white guy be the hero and it definitely happened again.

Not crazy about the idea that the immigrant family could not solve the problem on their own either since from personal experience I know many to be more self-sufficient that the consumer raised folks already in this country.

Sorry for the spoilers.

Amazing Message
emmachammond11 December 2018
This was truly an amazing message to portray, the fact that we don't need to be against one another that we should be standing shoulder to shoulder and leading with kindness, something that I still believe the human race is able to achieve. Takes a lot to make me cry. Humanity,'kindness things that come free and are all part of us. The actor Scott Peat who starred in this short film was extraordinarily talented, when someone has little to say but can convey an array of emotions is an incredibly rare attribute.

Good theme but bad execution

I absolutely love the theme of this story, people pull together during disaster. Unfortunately it's very unclear as to why anyone is trapped.

Disappointed

Rising has an important message to convey, especially in this day and age.

Unfortunately, unlike Wonderland written and directed Tiffanie Hsu (addressing divorce and gambling addiction,) Rising feels more like an 11 minute Public Service Announcement rather than a Short film.

To "seal the deal" when the credits start to roll and the viewer has already started to wonder what they watched... an advertisement icon is the first thing that appears on the credits list.

Some of the acting was wonderfully believable, while some contributed to the PSA feel.

Could have been better imho.
