One of the strengths of La Moda Proibita is the animation of the imaginary characters designed by Capucci who (thanks to the computer animation of the young editor Filippo Orrù) fly like goblins, between the frames. The characters follow the movements of the eyes of Capucci who, during the interviews, roamed in the environment detaching from those of his interlocutors. Naturally, the viewer has the opposite impression: that the couturier is behind his images and ghosts. Which, from the psychoanalytic point of view, is also true.
The film had two world premieres a few months later. Capucci at the last moment decided not to participate in the first premiere, organized by Istituto Luce and Alta Roma at the Sala Fellini of Cinecittà, because Capucci did not like the proximity with the costume exhibition of Raffaella Carrà, a pop TV star. Rosati avoided the scandal, presenting Capucci's decision as a Mercurial psychodrama quoting an essay by Marie-Louise von Franz about the Grimm's tale 'The little tailor'. After ten months the president of Istituto Luce Roberto Cicutto, the producer Elda Ferri and Ottavio Rosati organized a new world premiere with the presence of Capucci who received a standing ovation. The event took place symbolically in the auditorium of Ara Pacis, one of the most important monuments of Rome built by Emperor Augustus in the year 9 a. C. to celebrate a new era of peace.
In 2015 the production of the documentary was slowed down for some months due to the controversial sale of the Capucci commercial brand.
Rosati has dedicated the movie to his analyst, Stefano Carta who strongly supported the Capucci project. Thanks to Stefano Carta, Ottavio has overcome the damage caused by his previous analyst dr. Hide, the Villain (real and not invented) protagonist of I cani dell'acqua marcia (2018).
The historical memory of Capucci's enormous production was curated by Serena Angelini.
