Can Be Good Fun
steve-butten5 April 2020
Well, harumph! I detect some serious jealousy here. After all, these are rich people splashing out on expensive dishes in a posh restaurant and, judging by these reviews, this rubs people the wrong way quite a bit. I rather like the show, my only criticism being that I find some of the "games" bewildering. If there is a good group of chatty, intelligent celebrities, it can be quite fun. Sometimes, however, we are left with D-list celebs and it can get boring. All in all a good time and just renewed for a third series, back in BBC 2. I'll be watching.

Watchable

Slow burning but interesting half hour. Interesting to see the menu choices change once they know they wont be paying.. Watchable but probably wont go beyond one series.

Novel relaxed late night viewing
chrischapman-475459 November 2019
I'm surprised that many reviews are so critical of this series. It's not a peak time game show so much as an opportunity to see a variety of well known personalities being themselves. It's like being part of a late night dinner party. Cleverly shot since camera are not seen. A clever and innovative (also presumably quite cheap!) format - it beats your average chat show hands down and there's no irritating studio audience/canned laughter. The restaurant itself is flipping expensive though.... It almost feels like a spinoff/secret child of Taskmaster and First Dates!

Who pays the bill?

Throw a dinner for a group of celebrities. They order the most expensive stuff on the menu and then play some parlour games. The loser pays the bill.

It is a bizarre idea, the concept should not work. However get a good bunch of amiable celebrities together and they just about get away with it.

It all depends on how good and interesting the challenges are. I thought some of them were silly.

Of course the celebrities are getting paid to appear in this show. So I guess the loser takes less money home.

Utter rubbish

It's like the scene in Alan Partridge actually happened where he's pitching the worst TV show ideas to Tony Hayers only here in the real world it's been given the go ahead. What's next? Inner City Sumo?

Who thought this was a good idea?

My god! They really will put anything on TV these days! Whoever thought that this would be a hit, I pray that they are no longer working in the TV industry.

The idea itself, a bunch of snobby, smug z-list celebrities going for a meal and seeing who will pay the bill, is the laziest idea I have ever heard, and this is definitive proof that the execs over at the BBC have really scraped the bottom of the barrel.

Pure garbage

Whoever commissioned this "show" should resign immediately and never return to the broadcasting business. Such a total waste of time, watching a bunch of narcissistic B-list celebs playing very unfunny party games. The whole concept is so exceptionally stupid, it makes Brendan O'Carroll's "For facts sake" seem like a really bright and well executed idea.

Awful in every way.

Everything about this show epitomises everything that is wrong with the world let alone tv. How does this kind of thing get made and what kind of values do the people who are responsible for this have. Just horrendous in every conceivable way.
