In a Prague hospital, a severely abused German tourist is fighting for her life; she is in a coma. The parents and brother of the 17-year-old girl, who traveled from Germany, are horrified that the German ambassador in Prague, Karla Lorenz, is ensuring that the police let the main suspect go. By pointing out the diplomatic immunity of 18-year-old Philippe, the son of the French ambassador Claude Beaumont and her best friend Margo Beaumont, Karla stops the unlawful interrogation of the high school graduate. Karla cannot imagine that the rather quiet heartthrob would have beaten a woman into a coma. She suspects his friends, especially because Philippe doesn't want to reveal their names. Inspector Jan Horava suspects that he is finally on the trail of the boys' clique, which is said to have already abused and raped several young women. Maybe Philippe was just the "decoy" and wasn't involved in the crime at all? While his father wants to get him out of the country as quickly as possible, Karla wants to persuade the young man to give a voluntary statement. She accepts that her friendship with the Beaumonts might break as a result. But the political winds will soon turn against Karla Lorenz.
