Quirky is the best word to describe this show - also good mysteries
Mighty_Rover9 May 2019
This show is fun. The mysteries are interesting but it is the quirky nature of the script, actors, and environments that make it eminently watchable.

Every so often a narrator shows up with some really odd details - often amusing.

The scene where one of the actors is thinking out loud and, at the end of the thought, the entire cast (including the corpse) applauds is worth the price of entry!

Everytime I watch this, I find another detail, to the overarching mystery.

Lacks something

The series severely lacks something and I can't quite put my finger on it. It definitely isn't a masterpiece bordering being a farce. The story is awful, acting mediocre, and narration is over the top.

Death by Vinyl: First Chapter

Every crime show does an old pop group that had secrets and an acrimonious fall out but later unites story.

Queens of Mystery is no different. The band is 80s new wave act Volcanic Youth, an all girl group.

Aunt Cat had her own history with the group. As they reunite to make a new album, the lead singer Electra Bliss is found dead.

Mattie gets another murder to investigate. It makes a change from searching for a lost dog.

The narration is overbearing even though I know it is meant to be deliberate.

The humour is forced but this was better than the first story. It looks more settled with the main cast members.

With another body turning up dead, stabbed in the back, ironic as the victim was a backstabber.

I really did want to know how it ends in the second part.
