Really missed opportunity
tmobilex4 June 2023
Unfortunately this movie could have been really good, but It came out average. Its a bit sad if this is best we can do. Again, and again directors are butchering this deep and painful story just to film an average movie.

Actors are trying to act a bit too much those characters from Vukovar at that time (none of them has that charisma, not even close), and first of all that is a bit hard to do, and second of all actors who were born after the war and (thankfully) didnt go throught it, cant act like those men at that time.

Of course it was nice to hear Goran Bare at the start and at the end of the film with the song, but rest of it was like every other Croatian movie.

Again, actors should have learn by now that you simply have to be yourself and if you are good at it, you are GREAT, otherwise no act can look nature and awesome.

This can also be seen at 90% of other Croatian movies/series. I hope that in future, actors will have more freedom to act like themselves and not to act like half-robots when they are speaking (people who speak Croatian will understand this..). Its just not looking natural and common.

Be careful with these 10 star reviews, wouldnt be first time that happened, because a lot of actors/staff/family are voting here also.

5/10.

Still waitin' for the ultimate MOVIE
bonzo112 August 2022
Unfortunately, this film did not convey the desired emotions to me! The film is certainly better than most films from the 90s that dealt with the subject of the Vukovar tragedy. But this flick is not that one! We're still waiting for THAT movie.

Don't believe reviews with 10 stars! This movie is for a maximum of 5 stars. I wasn't so generous.

Missed opportunity
bongo4526 August 2022
The movie is nowhere near as good as this story deserves! At times, the outdated directing, drags out the story and gives it another, should I say, boring character. Shame for the missed opportunity.

A Story That Needed To Be Told
dk77724 November 2023
In this film, we follow several characters and their fates. The action takes place before and after the attack on Vukovar.

The Sixth Bus is a poignant drama about the fall of Vukovar, which is based on the true story of the so-called the sixth bus that took the captured defenders and the wounded from the Vukovar Hospital, whose fate is not known even after more than 30 years.

A young American journalist is trying to find out the fate of a man from her mother's past, a missing Croatian soldier from Vukovar.

What is good about the film is that it managed to convey emotions and atmosphere. After the fall of Vukovar, terrible crimes took place, the missing bodies are still being searched for today.

Of course, everyone would like this film to be better than it is, but honestly, this is not bad at all, especially when we compare it to most Croatian productions. The direction could be a little better at times, but still, the film is worth watching.

I'm pretty generous with the 8/10 rating, it's hard to be objective when it comes to this topic, but hey, the rating is that way because they put in the effort to tell this story.

The actors are mediocre, although even sometimes they are not that bad. The point of this film is not that, but to encourage the talk about these events and not to forget them because we should learn from history.

Terrible things happened in Vukovar, they should never be forgotten and should serve as an eternal reminder of what hatred can do.

Vukovar defended itself against a more numerous and better equipped enemy, and foreign "experts" predicted that the city would fall in a few days. However, thanks to the heroic resistance of the defenders, the city held on for much more than that.

It was a battle that ended up costing the attackers of the city dearly, the losses of the JNA and Serbian paramilitary units were huge and that somehow changed the course of the war.

The city of Vukovar was destroyed by the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) and Serb paramilitaries. The massacre occurred shortly after Vukovar's capture by the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) and paramilitaries from Serbia. In that period, it was the fiercest battle in Europe since 1945, and Vukovar was the first major European city completely destroyed since World War II.

The Croatian city of Vukovar was defended by around 1,800 soldiers of the Croatian National Guard (ZNG) and civilian volunteers, against as many as 36,000 JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) soldiers and Serb paramilitaries equipped with heavy artillery.

The war eventually ended with a Croatian victory and the liberation of the occupied territories.

Such a waste
inspektorr12 February 2024
Watching this is a test of patience... Dialogs are SO bad. Why do they force these poor actors to talk this way is a total mistery to me. None of it works, because this is not the natural way for people to talk.

The editing is sloppy, slow and confusing. The scenes linger for too long, the pauses between the lines are stretched out, it all starts to feel a bit boring very quickly. This very old-school approach to movie making, almost like the old Yugoslav propaganda WW2 movies.

Camera work is average. Sometimes the camera is static, other times it wobbles for no reason, there's very little consistency in style. Also, the inconsistent color grading doesn't help.

The mixed timelines and their different tones are tiring the viewer. Am I watching a war movie, a documentary or a soap opera? So many tropes, so many cliches and making sure to mention all the famous names of Vukovar siege story feels contrived.

And that's it. Another missed chance to actually make a good movie about what happened in Vukovar. Who knows if we'll ever get the definitive movie about it...

Just about the only reedeming quality are the fighting scenes, where Zivko Anocic saves the day with his acting.

Beautiful movie

Great story, perfect music, great directing by old school film maker Eduard Galic. His experience you can see in every single shot. Nice way to approach and tell this sad story and do a movie about such delicate theme.

A movie definitely worth watching
nata-7919829 September 2022
The SIXTH BUS is a movie you need to see to comment on. And several times. Because in the film, every scene and every character has its own context, its personal history and values. The film far exceeds expectations because it places the battle for Vukovar in a different environment and dimensions yet supported by facts and human values.

The actors, directors and producers, as well as the masters of tone and make-up, did an excellent job, and if we add to that an impressive musical background, there is only one recommendation: Watch to comment!

Excellent Rade Vulin, Marko Petric, Masa Dordevic, Zala Djuric, Zivko Anocic, Pavle Matusko, a remarkable story that places Croatian film on a higher level!

Better than the general
emamarkov31 July 2022
Very realistic movie about a war in Croatia during 90s. It's such a good representation of those difficult times unlike the general. Music is also amazing. Actors are top notch especially the rising star filip mayer.

This film is really good and it sends strong message.

It shows what happened in Vukovar during the most difficult years for Croatian people, where people suffered a lot and lost their families.

Eduard Galic and his team did a great job!!!

Full of heart
asilverswim21 December 2023
Finally a telling of the story that conveys empathy for humans on both sides of this tragic conflict. Galic tells the story with a pace that allows the viewer to get to know the characters and the town. At the heart of it, this is a movie about friendship and brotherly love, and the madness of war. Men caught up in identification with their tribes forgetting about the humanity of other men. The movie is well acted and there is a certain innocence the actors convey while also expressing a weariness of life, of conflict, of governments who cannot coexist. Most importantly this movie accurately expresses the toughness and grit of the Croatian and Serbian people while also expressing their big heartedness, their love of county, and their love of friendship and social connection. If you want to understand more about this area of the world and its people, watch The Sixth Bus.

Worth watching
Dhomezi2 February 2023
The "Sixth Bus" is a film about a young American trying to find a man from her past never to be found, during a biggest conflict on European soil since WWII-battle of Vukovar and it was directed by Eduard Galic. Also the compelling lead performance by Slovenian actress Zala Djuric and a great soundtrack make this movie not only worth watching but takes the whole war story to a whole new level and it also draws viewers closer to the events. It's not on any streaming platform but it might be in the future.

If you're interested in the movie, then check out the trailer which shows a brief glimpse of the film itself.
