One of the best episodes of television ever written...
chrisrbaxter9 August 2019
Hands down, this episode was perhaps one of the best things i have ever seen on tv or probably on screen period. Any fans know that the creator, Taylor Sheridan, is cementing his legacy as a storyteller with his depiction of the modern frontier in Yellowstone and across his cinematic work.

This episode has the drama, suspense and heartbreak with just the right amount of laughter and redemptive qualities to be an example of how to make an audience feel the full spectrum of emotions through beautiful writing and cinematography.

I don't remember too many other shows giving me this sort of feeling after an episode. One of my instant top five favorites of all time.

Just perfect television

Warning: Spoilers
Finally catching up on Yellowstone after having been initially introduced to 1883 (Yellowstones prequel) and after a very tension filled and thrilling first season, season two takes it to a whole different level.

From Jamie killing the reporter to the chaos that ensues in this episode, it feels as if they're striking the perfect balance between great storytelling, deep evolving characters and the violence and bloodshed that a lot of us love to see on screen. There's a reason we love to see violence on screen and that's because if it's done right, it's scary, tense, dramatic, and shocking to witness, and the Beth office scene was all of those and then some.

Would Rip get there in time to save Beth, would she find a way out, would the attacker kill her after she pushed him over the edge with her constant taunts. That's the thrilling tv I want to see and boy did this episode have it.

Rip makes it in time and saves Beth from death and possibly rape but that's only if the guy could get his little pecker up after Beth taunted him so viciously. Until now the violence on the ranch was always left somewhat subtle and it was more about threats and what might happen but in this episode John plain out says "we're going to kill them son" letting us know that we're finally getting to see the real Dutton family after 2 seasons, a family who will openly kill to protect what they have.

In terms of the main story arc I'm still very interested to see what happens with jimmy and the money he owes the junkies and I'm super Intrigued to see how Cayce and Rip will take the fight to the Beck brothers. On a side note, Neal McDonough is the perfect casting choice to play one of the Beck brothers as he previously played a similar role with his 'Justified' character Robert Quarles and In my opinion he fits this character very well.

Overall this episode perfectly sums up what a great TV show is all about, making you super excited and desperate to put on the next episode and see what unfolds next, and Yellowstone has me well and truly hooked, fantastic episode that is easily one of the best of the entire show.

Superb

This is a dynamite episode, great acting, great script and dialogue, continued development of characters and family history. Character Beth was absolutely stellar. Yes she is a tough and sometimes crude lady played with guts and incredible talent by Kelly Reilly. Looking forward to development of several plot lines including Beth and Rip.

The whole show summed up in one episode as a rollercoaster of emotions.

If you like the show, you will love this episode. Even the headline is to much of a spoiler already, so I leave it at this and just say; Go watch it.

If you did, you'll understand.

Greetings from Lithuania.

"Resurrection Day", 7 th episode of season 2 was the best one due to many things. Plot has moved into believable and intriguing path. Then there was amazing scene with Beth and Rip on a roof were i heard literally one of the best if not the best speech about heaven and hell being on earth - which this episode captures perfectly. Half of this episode was pure heaven to watch characters doing things they enjoy, and the ending was pure nightmare - no spoilers.

That said, I'm more then involved into this show and its outcome now. Great episode of a superb series.

Easily the best episode of the series
neilmalcom12 August 2019
As much as Beth makes you cringe she shows what she's made of here. Cole Hauser is fantastic as he has been the entire series and the conflict facing the Duttons rises to a whole new level.

Actually not a bad episode.

I've put this show through the ringer from time to time, but this episode was actually a good one. Maybe the best episode so far. Still I wish Costner would clear his throat from time to time.

9.4 rating...
Nos20015 October 2021
...simply proves most raters desire for violence and debauchery before they rate an episode with a decent score.

Like anyone who sees through the desire to shock us with seemingly unlimited - and unpunished - violence, whilst this episode delves further into the overall make-up of the series, does it really deserve 9.4? Perhaps 8, simply for the acting potential, would serve to give other review readers a better indication of how good this episode is.

Unfortunately, and gratingly, in modern times if a show doesn't provide gratuitous violence, or let's face it, pointless sex scenes, it doesn't seem to warrant raters enthusiasms.

The days of rating episodes - or series - with their just deservers for writing, acting, cinematography, production values and direction seem long since departed. Much to the denigration of entertainment as a whole.

If only Hollywood - amongst the rest - would start treating its audience (most of it at least) as intelligent, reasoning people with a desire for meaningful productions, the situation would be resolved, and leave the unnecessary, mindless click-bait to those who gain enjoyment from witnessing the corruption of the human soul in its most undesirable form.

Not What I Consider Entertainment
gabriellek-9339220 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've given this show so many chances but this is it for me. I'm done with the everything goes wrong to the nth degree craziness. My husband said, this is life. No. No, it isn't. How often do you go for a leisurely ride in the woods, look over and two people are hanging over a cliff? They fall, you turn around and there's the bear you've been trying to kill! No. I'm just not a fan of kicking people down in everyway possible. The wife is a complete nightmare. A ridiculous snob that's not worth anyone's time. She comes back by saying I tried to move on but I couldn't. Oh so time to fall back on Kasey because you couldn't do better? Beat it. Beth is the best character. Yes, she's evil but she's funny most of the time anyways and then they attack her this episode. I personally don't think brutally violent rape scenes are entertaining. So I'm done. I hope Beth, Rip and Jimmy run away to never return and the rest of them can just sit around being miserable for the rest of their lives.

One of the best episodes ever telecasted..
yasirhattar31314 August 2019
It had a lot of emotions, love, resurrection and anticipation. These kind of episodes play a defining role in the series. Rip and Beth scene on the rooftop was so mesmerizing and stunning. It was a roller coaster. It connected the whole ideology of modern western with emotional roots. And atlast I think Yellowstone is very underrated now but oneday it'll be a blockbuster in days to come.

Live by the sword, die by the sword

Kelly Reilly shines. Amazing performance! Girls got chops. As for her character... Since Beth has never shown an ounce of pity, compassion or humanity to anyone, so I will hold none for her. Despicable human being. I was hoping at some point they would add some depth to her character, but now it seems too late. She is what she is.. To bad really, Kelly could do so much more. Live by the sword, die by the sword

Finally!!!
issaciams15 August 2019
This show is very mediocre to me most of the time but this episode threw a curve ball that I was not at all expecting but one that I thought that was somewhat deserved. Just not in the way it played out. Wow. The Duttons are finally getting knocked down a few pegs and I am finally getting really interested in the series. Personally, I don't like rooting for the bad guys but almost everyone in this series is a a bad guy so I often find myself rooting for the lesser of all the evils.

This was another very emotionally twisted episode but again the script leaves a lot to be desired. Beth as a character is just abhorrent. I really hope she has a change of heart soon or I'm just going to continue watching her scenes with disdain and contempt.

Grittiest TV I've ever seen
thewordshark-1109714 January 2023
I started binge watching this series over the holidays. Got to Season two Episode seven, and it physically shook me to my bones. Some of the nastiest violence ever portrayed, and yet, there was a sensitive edge that made the visceral ugliness almost exhilarating. Emmy award winning performances by Beth and Rip. Eminently memorable, but somehow not re-watchable, it was that moving. The episode definitely moves the story forward, and it creates a bond between two essential characters that will be more than interesting to follow as the series progresses. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't try to describe any more. Just watch it!

...only one thing though, Monica is NUTS! A grade "A" Drama Queen. Casey needs to stick with the girl who is a great ranch hand and a stripper to boot. Maybe Monica will get eaten by a Grizz...

Warning: Spoilers
Beth is still a nightmare of a character, but this was a wild episode here. This show can be good if it just lets go and gets edgy, but it doesn't try hard enough on that front.

She even makes the villains this season worth rooting for. Truly one of the most repugnant characters to ungrace a TV screen. Just waiting for her comeuppance. A day to rejoice.

not just this episode but the whole series
sandcrab2777 September 2019
The characters and the plots are fine ... what i take exception to is treating it like the big land owners in montana actually live there .... in truth the largest land owner in montana lives in texas ... the other and perhaps greatest exception i take to this fantasy trip through montana is the way everyone drives great distances in less time than it takes to run to the grocery store ... its at least 470 miles from billings to whitefish and takes the better part of a day unless you are flying ...
