OFF TO A GOOD START
carolnoblesyr27 September 2018
The first episode was able to introduce the main characters to the audience by slowly revealing details of their lives and relationships to each other in an unforced manner. As in life, things are not always what they seem.

Deals with a sensitive topic in a balanced way.

Don't Compare It - Let It Stand On Its Own
speakergregscott23 October 2018
I never say "This Is Us" or "Thirteen Things" or any other show this is being compared to. This show resonates with many of us who deal with the same issues, same struggles, same worries, same relationship issues. The friendships shown each week come across as real, authentic, believable, warts and all. Some of us with we had authentic friendships with four plus people like this. I am riveted during every episode. Crying and smiling through every episode and wishing, hoping, dreaming I will have some real friends that stand with me through the good, the bad and the ugly some day. Give this show a chance. Don't compare it to other shows. Let it stand on its own.

Give it a chance

Unlike others I choose to see the positive. The friendship & love is very clear among the group of friends. Yes suicide is depressing but unfortunately it's also very real. There is some similarity, as one person stated to "This Is Us"; but I think there's a lot of difference as well. I will be watching every week.

A Million Little Things add up to a subpar show
sandrene30 September 2018
This show checks off all the boxes you need for a good drama. Within the first 3 minutes we're given characters with plot lines that have the potential to be really interesting for several episodes and even seasons. But then it all falls apart.

First is the messy and unbelievable dialogue. The first time we see all the friends together their conversation is riddled with exposition that sounds incredibly forced. I feel like the show runner (who is also the writer of most episodes) hasn't actually had a friendship like that. It's more in line with the shoddy dialogue written for a group of women.

And speaking of women, the female characters seem to all just be a vehicle to move the men's story along. And while I realize the show is about the four men and their friendship, you could remove most of the scenes with the main supporting women and still have the same show. Possibly better, since several of the storylines the women support are unnecessary moments of suspense. I get that this is a drama, but there's too much thrown in at the expense of the story, which makes it all lackluster all around.

I want to like the show, but seeing as how all but 1 episode so far is credited solely to the creator, I have my doubts it will improve. Strong actors can't fix a weak script. ABC would have been better off waiting to release this show until they had a strong writer's room, preferably with some diversity, since this desperately needs the input of different voices.

3 things I hate about this
tonysfdd28 September 2018
1. I hate that it's not "This Is Us". 2. I hate that it isn't "13 things". 3. I hate that we can't have this cancelled quicker. Sorry ABC, you missed out on what could have been a great show. The opener was too sad and the characters left, well, nothing.

Where can they go with this?

Warning: Spoilers
This one weird premise. And it doesn't show much promise. This amounts to however many 60 minute episodes they wind of making of people living with suicide. How long before the audience feels like suicide? Is this a premise they've used to get the show on the air and the plan is to turn it into a late evening soap opera, is that fair to fans of the show the way it is now? This is one of shows for people who like go AWWW! while watching videos of puppies, kittens, and babies. If you have an interest in the issue of suicide for some reason, this is the show for you. So far, I'm two episodes in, I've heard enough. We all know suicide is bad. Most of us would try to help a friend who was contemplating it. But where do you go with that? What will their stories belike at the end of 22 or 23 episode season? I find this to be a manipulative attempt to make money on suicide. And in the process bore about 50% of population to death. So if you're into a show then sends you through wild emotional ups and downs while going almost nowhere. This the show for you.
