Most of you missed the point. Christmas is a time for miracles. A romantic interest was a sub plot. Merry Christmas everyone.

It will scratch that "itch" for this kind of movie, but others do it better.
AJ-Reviews2 January 2020
So, the lighting was amazing and dialogue was "above average" for this kind of movie. The film suffered from attention to detail and rushed character arcs and development. Attention to detail: 1. Royal outfits. I feel like the royal outfits at the end of the movie were cheesy. The ribbons didn't look right, material looked cheap...I dunno it sort of ruined an aspect of the look. Unfortunately, when outfits like that don't look right, they end up coming across as very cheesy. 2. Doctor Smockter. Kaitlyn is a good actor and shows a lot of emotion through the movie. That being said, there apparently was zero training/prep for her to actually behave remotely like a doctor. The dialogue (though great for this kind of movie- and amazing in certain scenes) didn't even try to be technically accurate at all. Just the way she handle's the patient's charts in some scenes is comical. Someone should have done their job checking for professional accuracy. 3. There is one. Just one big musical number by guest country star Genevieve Fisher and they couldn't get the audio right on it. The sync between the video and audio is noticeably off to where it looks like she is lip syncing. WHY WOULD YOU GET AN AMAZING TALENTED SINGER THEN HAVE IT LOOK FAKE? Sorry, that is my musician side coming out. Kudos for getting a real artist. The guitarist was good too! ------ The Story & Characters The story and set up was plausible enough. I really ended up enjoying a lot of the interplay and character-moments between both the main cast as well as the supporting cast. The romance between supporting actors Josh Dean and the very beautiful Melinda Shankar was, in some aspects, more interesting and fun than the romance of the main two characters. I feel that the ending scene between the two was a bit "rushed". A lot of times movies like this will have side characters (like an older couple- usually a parent of the female lead's character and another) who have a side-romance, and it is so fake and choppy. This one was actually fun. Their action was great for both of their characters and in some scenes where Josh's character was "ultra campy" was obviously more the fault of a section of weak writing and not the actor's fault. The children in this movie are adorable. Children actors are really a "roll of the dice" when it comes to quality, and in this movie they did quite well. ------ My favorite scene: There is a scene at the end of the movie between Dr. Tasha Mason (Kaitlyn) and King Edward (Charles Shaughnessy). The dialogue was exceptional and the delivery incredible. It was because of the talent of Charles that I've added him to the list of male actors with incredible voices. Actors such as Idris Elba, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman and others. The lighting on him was amazing too...could have been like 5% better on Kaitlyn but that is very picky. Anyways, the lighting, his voice, the dialogue was just incredible and for a scene the movie transcended other films of this ilk and became something more. Something like a high quality movie. Something I would want to watch...and I did, re-watch that specific monologue quite a few times. Thank you for reading!

Rough in a lot of places
Jackbv12311 December 2018
This movie has some good moments. Some of them are funny. Some are sweet. But there are also inconsistent moments. The story attempts to pull in some of the usual plot devices and sentimental moments, but it's not done smoothly. Still, some of them work. Sometimes, I think it is difficult to mix silly comedy with more serious elements especially the more negative ones. And some of the usual plot devices are way too predictable and transparent.

The acting was similar - some moments were a little rougher than others. This is especially true of Kaitlyn Leeb. Also the chemistry between Leeb and Nick Hounslow was lukewarm.

I'm disappointed in the character of Doctor Miller. In more than one scene, even near the beginning, she looks far more like a scared little girl than a actual Doctor who has persevered through more than 99%+ people ever do and I don't think this was the acting, I think it was intentional, perhaps as either written or directed.

My eyes and ears are bleeding
rachelaemmons6 December 2020
I watch a lot of cheesy Christmas movies. They're dumb. They're predictable. But they're fun to watch. Usually. I've seen plenty of stinkers, but this one takes the cake. It was so awful, I wanted to run away screaming, but by golly I finished it. First of all, no one stays in the hospital for weeks for a broken leg. The prince could have easily just flown home to recover and I could have been spared this torture. Everything was so awful. The plot, script, acting, costumes, music, just everything. By the end of the movie, I had lost the will to live.

Christmas without charm
TheLittleSongbird24 December 2019
Love Christmas with all my heart. Love the fun and nostalgia it brings, and cherish all the time spent with family and friends every year. Recently wanted to see some different and new Christmas films released in 2018 and 2019 to stretch my horizons beyond the ones traditionally watched every year. Feelings have been extremely mixed doing this and even when trying to take them for what they're meant to be some have been lacking (though there have been some surprisingly good ones too).

'Christmas with a Prince' was one of those that was lacking, am saying this with a heavy having always made it a duty of mine. There are certainly far worse festive films out there and it is not even one of the very worst seen as part of my quest. Generally though it was towards the lesser end, with its moments but with a lot done badly. One expects cheese and schmaltz from reading the premise alone but not both excessively done and balanced poorly, or almost everything handled in a near-amateurish manner.

Sure, there are moments. The scenery is lovely to look at. The music captures the festive spirit with great affection, although some of the placement was questionable.

There are a few amusing moments and a few very cute ones.

Unfortunately the scenery was not properly done justice, suggestive of somebody behind the camera that had too much to drink on a long night out. The direction is some of the most disorganised and leaden for any film seen recently and of all the recently seen Christmas films, clearly having no idea what to do with the story and the direction of the actors.

Likewise, the script has no tension or emotional connection and is ruined by an overload of the cheesiest of cheese and equally excessive difficult to stomach sentimentality. The chemistry between the actors, especially the two leads, is so disconnected and the story jumps around and is so dreary and predictable not to mention jawdrop inducing daft. None of the characters are worth identifying with and actually found myself irritated by them, especially the doctor. Nobody looks comfortable in their roles and either over-compensate or don't try.

In summary, a charmless Christmas. 3/10

Christmas with a Prince ... with a prince!
timmyb_843 December 2022
I saw Christmas With a Prince ... with a prince! Well, it was someone who was once called a prince but now goes by Danathaniel.

While watching the movie with a prince, I kept looking over at the prince during the most emotional scenes and seeing that he was completely stiff and unemotional. And I thought "huh I guess the movie accurately portrays a prince".

In order for me to see this movie with the prince, he had to fly from his home in Zanzibar (where Neuschwanstein Castle was relocated by helicopter) to his royal throne in England, where he stepped on a breadcrumb and broke his fingernail. To receive emergency surgery he had to fly to a remote town in Montana where they specialize in reconstructive fingernail surgery. While he was recuperating, we saw this movie. And I thought "huh I guess this movie accurately portrays the fragility of a prince"

All-in-all this movie very accurately depicted my life and I'm grateful for the large cash donation that the producers gave me for the rights to use my story. All of the money went straight to my recently created Royal Charity where I give money to the most needy or royal families.

Christmas with a prince
RktDr20 December 2021
I am shocked by the number of below average ratings for these films. This is not an academy nominations, but definitely above a couple of hallmark movies I saw this weekend. Had never seen the 2 leads but I thought both were above average. Especially the female lead. I liked the story and the way they both interacted with the kids. Liked the ending, the way she stood up to the princess. Definitely wasn't boring. Enjoyed it.

Mmm. No, just no!
chantalwood27 November 2020
I had hope this would be a cute movie but not even 10 minutes in, I had issues with the way they were degrading Nurses and making it seem like all Nurses do is drink coffee and apparently order scrubs. Nurses send more time with the Patient than doctors and do a hell of a lot more. The fact that the Chief of the hospital was degrading the Nurse and the characters making nurses seem like they are "just a nurse" as if its an inferior career was disheartening. The acting wasnt much better! too corny and cheesy.

Stop judging it wrongly
kellyjeanne-6685925 December 2020
Yes this is a play on the stereotypical Romantic Christmas movie. But open your eyes and heart to what's really happening. The chilldren are the true stars of this movie. How their joy, laughter, and strength changes Prince Alec's heart is what happens. Stop judging Christmas movies as if they are Oscar Contenders, and open your heart and mind to their underlying messages. You might be surprised and realize they have things to offer that are far more important than acting skills

BAD acting - couldn't even finish it
inkedncurvy12 November 2020
I had the biggest crush on Charles Shaughnessy 35 yrs ago on Days of Our Lives..and it seems he is the only one who can act in this movie. While Nick Hounslow is amazing to watch without his shirt on, that's the best part of the movie.

I made it 25 minutes in and had to stop. I LOVE Christmas romantic movies or royalty movies...I expect them to be probably be a bit juvenile, but this was horrible. Really bad over acting, poorly written, did i mention...REALLY BAD ACTING.

Wanted to love it....couldn't

I enjoyed this movie series.
iceblast-213 November 2019
I really enjoyed this movie series.

The female star is beautiful, and the Prince is uniquely handsome, and very well fit. They seemed very well match together.

There is light drama in it, with some interesting scenes. I thought the acting was well done for the story. I can't believe how low the rating for this movie is, doesn't make sense at all to me.

Yes, it says Christmas in the title, but it has very little Christmas in it. This is like many of the other Prince movies. Girl meets Prince and has to overcome Royal complications to be together.

I thought the King and Queen in this movie, where very good people. Their characters acted very different then you would expect. To me, it really added to the quality of the movie.

Kaitlyn really showed some iron will, fighting for what she believed as a Doctor. It really makes you respect her.

All movies like this are just fantasies, you know the girl will get the Prince, or the Prince will get the girl, we are just along for the ride. So try to just enjoy the ride with them.

who wouldn't want to meet a prince or princess?
ksf-210 February 2022
Kaitlyn leeb is tasha miller, doctor in the peds unit of a hospital. Her brother jeff ( josh dean) is nurse at the same hospital. When a prince wants to escape the paparazzi, they allow him to hang at the hospital, in return for a large cash donation. I guess a private or non-profit hospital would go for that, since they can accept donations. The prince (nick hounslow) and his father keep making demands that tasha and jeff can't accommodate. No-one seems to attend to the patients in this hospital... they are all mostly standing around, gabbing in the elevator, or in the hallways. Appearance by performer genevieve fisher, who sings jingle bells. Very family safe, so a good one to watch with the young ones. I wouldn't think the prince would be dancing to rock and roll with one leg in a boot cast. And he kneels down with one knee on the floor. Except for that, the story is mostly air tight, if things move a little slowly. Directed by justin dyck. SO many films about christmas. Many of them are produced by brain power studios.

Mediocre at Best
denise-8815210 December 2018
While the basic storyline is compelling, the acting is awful...stiff, over-done...with lines and behavior not fitting a doctor, security detail, etc. My guess is that this was a low-budget production and the casting crew were forced to hire less experienced lead actors. Having said that, there's no "off-color" language, nudity, or situations that would offend sensitive viewers or young children. That, in itself, is refreshing!!

So bad
gfinkelhoffer-4502610 December 2021
I watched this the other day & really tried to like at least something about it. Nope, even the children were annoying. The lead actors are abysmal, the sets are REALLY CHEAP looking. The supposed 'Chief of Medicine' was so unprofessional. The king (Charles Shaughnessy) was bad. The 'other' woman (Princess Miranda, ridiculous name) was just as ridiculous as her name. Also, what was with that DEAD ANIMAL around Tasha's neck at the ball? And unless you are royalty or under 10, you shouldn't wear a tiara!

As for the male lead, so miscast. At first I thought he was Rylan Clark-Neal, that guy from the UK (it was the blindingly white cheesy looking teeth).

All in all, this was at the very bottom of all Christmas movies I've seen through the years, even 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' is a better movie!

I read that there were two more movies starring the same leads? How?

Appreciate any Christmas movie but hate the stereotype
thomasholsaeter6 December 2020
A chief of surgery at 26 years old? Referring to nurses as nurse and adding an insult? This was in the first 30 min and I couldn't tolerate the rest. People need to learn the actual reality of healthcare. I am a doctor and I learn from nurses every day. We as doctors rely on them for everything and no physician should ever disrespect a nurse as was portrayed in this movie. I hope Hollywood learns from this

I had to DNF at 20 minutes. The acting is terrible except for the brother. The worst are the prince & the chief of staff. Annoying actors!

Even cancer kids could not give this movie a soul
patricepederson27 March 2021
The lead in this movie is the most emotionally immature character I have ever encountered in fiction. How many times is she going to throw a teenage tizzy fit? We are expected to believe that she is capable of handling dying children but incapable of surviving some caddy women at a dinner party? She is impossible to cheer for.

Also the timing of this movie was way off. They had their little ending, and then for some reason tacked on an extra 25 minutes of nonsense.

I want to be happy about Netflix's attempt to do Hallmark movies in a more woke way, but, in sticking with the teenage girl theme, it reminds me of the cliche "be yourself, everyone else is taken." Netflix doing Hallmark just feels like a pathetic wannabe situation. They couldn't even copy the most formulaic of formulas, let alone capture the heart.

Where was it shot?!
irishhone2 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I believe that this was shot in Surrey - British Columbia some of the hospital outside scenes are at E division RCMP headquarters in Green Timbers and the ending where they are sitting on the stairs is the Surrey education boards offices at 140 and 92

The movie itself is generic and predictablerun-of-the-mill romance holiday movie the lead actresses hair is not great - her face in previous movies her skin has been really bad so it's cleared up here - the final outfit for the ball is atrocious and tacky

the prince on the other hand looks like he's had a lot of plastic surgery

Overall a very distracting movie

Disappointing FAIRYtale.
carrona27 November 2020
As these movies are usually aimed at the female audience, surely the lead 'hunk' needs to be someone who doesn't have an online profile full of semi-naked muscle-man pictures aimed purely at a 100% male audience.

If it's supposed to be a love story, the male/female romance has to be believable.

The story was the usual one. Prince meets lowly (but talented and cute woman) and eventually whisks her off to be the princess in some make-believe Eastern European country.

This example was pretty awful.

I think I've seen every holiday movie going and this must rank as one of the worst. Nothing makes sense. I know you kinda suspend belief but everything about this movie is lazy to the point of insulting.

A hallmark movie with porn quality everything.
Healing_Process11 November 2020
I've seen many of these kind of movies and if you have too, you will know exactly what to expect. Though that is not the reason I gave it such a low rating.

All these movies could be easily better if the scenery and acting was actually believable. But the idea of making this in one wing of a building and have everyone half baked pretend to be doing a specific job and make the costumes look severely cheap really takes you out of the immersion.

The worst part for me was the extremely bad trope that is a double standard and unethical in the face of romance. She hates the prince because she believes he is spoiled. But someone wins her heart by commanding his secret service to do his bidding, hire a "famous musician" to visit, and give a helicopter ride to a mother to see her kid for his surgery. All of which could only be done if the man was rich and spoiled.

So essentially it's another movie trying to hire attractive actors and show us that women are gold diggers.

Dumpy looking Royals
cookthis-4748210 November 2019
Where to start. Gawd-Awful. Acting, thus casting is terrible. No chemistry at all. And the queen and her daughter so dumpy for royalty. It's so hard to swallow knowing Nick is a Famous Gay Gentleman seeing him so in love with the woman, wish they would have cast a man for his love interest.
