- GoofsThe group was supposed to leave from Westbahnhof, but Bahnhof Lichtenberg is shown, because there is no Westbahnhof in Berlin. There is indeed an Ostbahnhof, but the only station where the group could leave in different directions would be Hauptbahnhof. It seems they couldn't shoot the scene at another station, and Westbahnhof was easier to pronounce than Lichtenberg.
- Quotes
Emily Burton Silk: The woman you knew... I am... not that person anymore. When I got out of hospital, I discovered some of the things I did to you.
Howard Silk: I knew who you were.
Emily Burton Silk: I don't understand. Why did you put up with it?
Howard Silk: I thought it was love. Accepting you... unconditionally. But know I think... it was something more like cowardice. Like if I confronted you, I would lose you.

The end of a failed experiment
I mean the show itself and the story.
I rather liked Counterpart, but the attraction had a very thin basis which was also quite abstract. How does the world affect development of a person?--i.e. nature vs. nurture. The novelty was that this age-old question was actualized, with the twist that you might be able to interact with another version of yourself, or other versions of your family and loved ones. The writers teased out some intriguing scenarios. The character development of the two versions of one self was best with Emily Silk. The writing there bordered on brilliant. I felt that the two Howard Silks were neither of them very interesting, nor were they differentiated except in broad, brute strokes. One major problem with the show was an almost total failure to develop a feel for two different worlds. One hardly knew which Berlin one was being shown, without being told. The failure of imagination in world building was the biggest problem with the show. An overly dark palette of colors veered on obnoxious at times. The acting was often hard to believe. In particular, I felt the presentation of the character of Ian bordered on unintentional comedy.
I have mixed feelings about investing some time watching Counterpart. There were some genuinely interesting moments, some excellent writing, yet on the whole I feel quite unsatisfied with the show. I wish the writer future opportunities, future successes.
