With a title shortened from Witches of Amityville Academy (probably so as not to give anyone the wrong impression that this is a teen movie a la Sabrina), Witches of Amityville tells the story of Jessica who, when receives an invitation to attend an exclusive academy, jumps at the chance to go to a prestigious school. However, on her first night, when she sees another newcomer murdered in front of her, she realises something is very wrong. She discovers the academy is actually a cover for a coven of witches and she has hidden powers that might just help save her life and escape their evil clutches…

Ever since the horror genre began taking off decades ago, there have been plenty of parody movies and derivative works that aim to cash in on the prestige of the films they’re based on, and not much has changed in recent times. In fact, even though Hollywood has slowed to a crawl amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve still seen a few low-budget offerings hitting streaming services. In April, the schlocky Corona Zombies attempted to cash in on the newly-emerged disease, and there’s already a sequel in the works which will include the now-famous feud between Tiger King sensation Joe Exotic and his longtime rival Carole Baskin.
But recently, a new contender has entered the arena, one that’s bound to draw comparisons to a fan-favorite horror franchise. As you can see above, a brand new trailer for The Candy Witch has begun making the rounds, and there...

Yet Another film from the ever-prolific UK genre outfit Proportion Productions, Don’t Speak sees the company, and in particular director Scott Jeffrey, on familiar ground. Now if I tell you that Don’t Speak follows in the footsteps of Pet Graveyard, The Mummy Reborn and Clowndoll; you might, just might, be able to figure out what I’m about to say.
For those that are still in the dark, the aforementioned films were somewhat pastiches of bigger budget Hollywood films and Don’t Speak is no different – in fact if I tell you that Don’t Speak‘s original title was Silent Place, you’ll know which film Jeffrey’s take its inspiration from. Of course, this slice of British-made horror is a riff on A Quiet Place, with...

A horror legend returns this April when writer/director Dan Allen awakens the dead in The Mummy Reborn, yet another horror flick from the ever-prolific UK genre outfit Proportion Productions – whose film Pet Graveyard we reviewed last week.
Written by Dan Allen and Scott Jeffrey, The Mummy Reborn tells of a group of teens in financial ruin that decide to rob the local antique store of an ancient amulet. But what they don’t realise is that this tomb is cursed, and when the amulet is separated from it’s master he will do anything to get it back. Our burglars must save the day and return the Mummy to it’s tomb before it is too late to save the world.
The Mummy Reborn, which stars Becca Hirani (The House on Elm Lake), Tara MacGowran (Mandy the Doll), and Rita Siddiqui (Pet Graveyard), will be available on VOD and DVD across the Us,...

I hope you read the headline carefully before you opened this article. We’re talking about Pet Graveyard, a film that, ironically, looks like it has much more in common with Flatliners […] The post Hairless Cat Heralds Horror in New Clip from Pet Graveyard appeared first on Dread Central.

We’ve covered quite a few films from UK production outfit Proportion Productions, who have become almost factory-like in their film output in recent years, with films like the Unhinged remake, Fox Trap, House on Elm Lake, Darker Shade of Elise, Mother Krampus, Suicide Club, Curse of the Scarecrow and The Bad Nun to name a few… Pet Graveyard is the latest film in their ouevre and no, before you ask, this is Not a riff on Pet Sematary.
Going back to the title for a minute, it seems such a shame that the companies recent output has been lumbered with these “mockbuster”-like titles and marketing (I’m looking at you Mother Krampus and The Bad...
