Poignant and funny

I rather enjoyed this episode, it's almost as if Lee Mack took two topics which affect children, namely accepting sweets from strangers and obesity, welded them together and somehow made them funny. A gamble you could argue, but Lollipop Man was one of my favourite episodes from this series, far from the funniest, but some wonderful moments, that scene where poor old Fred recounts his tragedies was superb, well acted, hugely poignant, incredibly moving, cut to the hilarious looks on the faces of Lee and Lucy. The direction of the episode was of course pretty obvious, although it didn't matter. Very good indeed. 8/10

Lollipop Man

Poor Fred the lollipop man. His wife recently died, his grandchildren have emigrated to Canada, even his dog got run over. Now he has been suspended from his job as a lollipop man because he gave the kids some sweets.

Lucy wants to encourage healthy eating and is concerned that giving sweets is not a healthy in an ever growing obese society. Of course it is Lee who ends up firing an email to the council and both are rather embarrassed by the consequences. Lucy's father sees this as another sign of the do gooder, political correctness gone mad society.

The other parents are irate as they now have to cross the busy road to school with their children.

Another funny episode, although you could sense how it was going to turn out. I think Lee was right about Lucy's healthy cooking.
