Sarah Batsheva Graham, who plays the role of "Wife" in the film, remained in character for the entire first part of the shoot.
Writer/director Alexander Marais insisted on stripped down, large environments. He wanted the characters to interact in large, gloomy spaces but at the same time for all the action to be contained as there would be no other visual distractions - the focal point would be solely on the characters and the mysterious third party filming and interacting with them.
The antagonist, "Monster", is loosely inspired by a real-life character that used to haunt writer/director Alexander Marais' dreams every night when he was a child. It was only when he faced down the "demon" did it actually go away, thus sparking an idea for a metaphorical horror story about a man both figuratively and literally fighting a demon.
Recipient of two Honorable Mention Awards from the 2018 LA Underground Film Forum and Experimental Forum respectively.
Rumored to technically be, counting in the alleged continuity of The Maraisverse, a sequel to 'Hybrid' (2018). How the stories, actions, and characters relate to one another is unclear. Theories include 'Claire' from Hybrid being the unidentified, blonde-haired 'Wife' in Behemoth. Theories also include the unnamed third party being the same entity or entities seeming to be present in Hybrid - i.e. alien and/or astral-like beings masquerading as humans.
