Giant music work, small video work. Good anyway

Amazing hit song by R. E. M. But the music video is one of those where audiences don't feel so enthusiastic about it for countless (some obvious) things. In "So. Central Rain (I'm Sorry)" Michael Stipe and group perform the act inside a set where each members is placed behind a wall that shadows their instruments as Stipe is the only not hidden yet he's the one trying to not be seen at all, never looking to the camera or anywhere, basically eyes closed as sings the powerful song. I heard a story that they didn't want to make a video for it but had to since the single was becoming known among listeners. In the end, all the "I'm sorry!" as spoken by Stipe goes to us as he wanted to had done something better. A better music video, I mean.

Anyway, I'm not complaining, I like the video and its cinematographic work in shades of blue, very mysterious the way the band is presented in a quite obscure hidden manner. But it's far from being the visual masterpiece of a "Losing My Religion" or the incredible scenery of hundreds of simultaneous acts captured in "Imitation of Life". This works because of the magnificent song they had to show to us, a great one. 7/10.
