Contemporary thrills with a trio of stars

Warning: Spoilers
DEADLY CHASE FOR JUSTICE is a low budget and typical Hong Kong action thriller that was written by, directed, and stars the underrated Michael Chan Wai-Man. He plays the usual tough cop who finds himself on the trail of a ruthless gang of Japanese criminals who have murdered a colleague, causing Wai-Man to vow vengeance upon them. The contemporary setting means that this is awash with cheesy fashions and the like, but there's a fast pace and a lot of scene changes to take your mind off the familiar shenanigans of the plotting. Two of the bad guys are played by Bolo Yeung and Eric Tsang; the former is as convincing as ever and shines in a snowbound fight, but the latter couldn't be less imposing if he tried.
